The online menu had so many vegetarian options it got us hyped. If you are buying slices however you are limited to whatever pizza they have out at that moment. On a Friday evening they only had 2, with couple more coming out in 10 minutes. The pizza slices are priced reasonable. Their crust had the perfect thickness, and they were a bit flaky almost like a pastry. Vegan spinach pizza with potatoes was surprisingly good. It left a nice aftertaste in my mouth. They use aromatic sauces and spices, I think this is what sets them apart from a regular pizza joint. They have various draft beer, and bottled beverages such as brown sugar root beer. I would come back here just to taste something different. Street parking can be bit challenging depending on the time of the day.

San Diego is known for good pizza, but this slice shop stands out from the rest. Though it’s located in ultra-trendy Normal Heights, Zia isn’t a new kid on the block. The restaurant has been a local staple for over 10 years, and it’s almost as if its owner is known for his outgoing personality through the community. Inside Zia an airy vibe is accompanied by eccentric art and decorations that somehow make the place feel like home. Slices aren’t as big as some New York style joints – but expect a fantastic variety of culinary masterpieces. Crust has a delicious buttery quality and is neither too crispy nor chewy. Expect anything with marscapone to melt in your mouth.

Got out of a show nearby and saw that this place had a review saying they were food scientists who don’t make pizza; they design it. Obviously we had to check it out. So glad we did because the pizza was incredible and the guy we assume owns the place was hilarious. Every flavor we tried (which they rotate often) was great. Place has been around for a while too. 6/5 stars.

the best pizza. even if you’re not a fan of pizza to begin with, with the variety of pizza that Zia offers, you’re bound to find something you like. I don’t like the typical pizza flavors, so the pesto butternut squash is a favorite of mine.

I was the last customer of the day. The owner treated me like I was the first customer of the day. He was very likeable and personable. I wish them all the best success! The pizza was really good! Definitely going back to try their different specialties.

Short sweet and simple I love this place. I drive from Temecula all the way down to San Diego for this pizza. And it is worth it. Can’t wait for my next fix.

Super friendly staff. Good place to take your kid for a slice of pizza and soda, or a great place to have a local brew with a friend. I’ve enjoyed the pizza, and they also have a vegan option.

I could not ask for better pizza or a more friendly and welcoming environment. Zia is an outstanding host and chef, crafting food directly from the heart to your plate. I’ve had pizza in every town from Chicago to Honolulu, and this is, quite simply, the cleanest, richest, most flavorful pizza I’ve ever had. 20 out of 10 stars!

This place was excellent! After spending all day at the zoo, my family wanted pizza! Zia’s pizza was one of the later night options! We ordered take out and while waiting, Z offered us a free slice and made great conversation. I highly recommend Zia Gourmet Pizza! The pesto is amazing!

Omg I live down the street. How have I never eaten here before? We were walking by and stopped in for a slice. We ended up splitting five slices between us. We got the pesto butternut squash which is fabulous, the pineapple delight which was my favorite, the margarita, the pepperoni marscapone, and the pepperoni cranberry. All fantastic! Slices were $3-$3.50 each so very reasonable and so delicious!
