Excellent, if small, Japanese restaurant. We had vegetable tempura as an appetizer, since my daughter is a vegan. I had mackerel sashimi as well, which was excellent. My daughter had a vegan sushi selection. I had chicken yatatori. Everything was excellent. Very good service as well. Having been to Tokyo / Yokohama long ago in another life, this place was quite authentic. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Why 4.4 stars only????? Such an exceptional places do not need many words. I did like everything here – small restaurant, with cosy atmosphere, friendly staff serving the most delicious, fresh fish you can imagine and wish to eat. One of the best sushi I have ever tried. And what’s hard to believe it was for very reasonable price.

Was in the mood for a low key authentic sushi meal and zen did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and service was fast. I tried a little but of everything and they gave me a sashimi plate to close out my meal. I am i. Boston pretty often and will surely be back.

Ordered the sushi and it had a distinct fishy smell (something I’ve never experienced with sushi). I ate about half of it and stopped because I was afraid of getting sick. Looks like other reviewers have also experienced this. Maybe other items are good here, but I do not recommend the sushi.

The food at Zen is always authentic and beautifully made to order. The creativity and flavors are uniquely above most Japanese restaurants in Massachusetts. It’s a sushi lover must-have and a top destination.

Had some amazing food here with a large group of friends here before watching Black Panther on opening night! The sushi, udon, takoyaki and others are amazing!

The restaurant is not catchy at all, if you are not actively looking for it, you might miss it.

Genuine Japanese style sushi restaurant. Ordered hotate, unagi Maki, and fried oysters for takeout and I was pleasantly surprised to see food of great quality. They aren’t fancy but cooked with fresh and quality ingredients. Overall sushi was okay and I really enjoyed their fries oysters and hotate was weirdly addictive – creamy and spicy blend of sauce with scallops and crab meat. Definitely recommend checking this place out

When I was younger, I used to eat at a restaurant named Zen with my tennis coach and friends often. Was walking through town and found this restaurant of the same name, so I had to try it. Went here for lunch and I really enjoyed their lunch special, which is really filling. I think that the quality of the food could be a bit better, but for the price, it is really hard to beat.
