I just bought a delicious looking bowl from Zao. I specifically asked if the noodles were Gluten Free. They spoke to each other in a different language and then told me yes they were. I second guessed them but I got them anyway. The first bite I knew in fact they were NOT gluten free. The language barrier was a little tricky, there were two things I said I didn’t want but I got anyway.

Food was great! My favorite base for the “make your own bowl” is the yakisoba. I just can’t get enough of those noodles! They also have their own variety of drinks including a mango juice that I really loved! Overall Zao’s Asian Cafe is just a really yummy and quick place to eat! (they make the food really quick :))

Love the food. Came here because Cafe Rio next door has a long line that wasn’t moving. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. We’ve already come back again.

This fits in that fast casual build your own category. Nice Asian inspired flavors for bowls, salads, taco, soup etc.

I don’t know what is going on but this location will seriously skimp on the noodles every time. Is it like this at other locations? The first time I thought it was a one off the second time I was mad and the third time I am not going back here anymore. They do have good customer service, but the amount of food is not worth my money.

Wonderful and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. The food is light and delicious. If you’re looking for healthy, this is the place. You start with a base of white or brown rice, or noodles, then add a protein, and then get to dress up your meal with a variety of vegetables and sauces. Any of the ingredients can be made into a bowl, tacos, soup, or wrap. It’s moderately priced around $9-$10 per serving. Would highly recommend if you’re in the Union Park Avenue area.

Really good and quick fresh food. I recommend a bowl with upgraded noodles, half and half spicy and terriakyi sauce. Can’t go wrong!

This place is great, I’ve gone twice now. The prices are pretty competitive with places like Cafe Rio, you can tell that the ingredients here are a little fresher. Workers were efficient. Star lost because one worker did not speak English which made ordering very difficult, and then when I had a question about which sauces they had later, he was unable to answer. I think diversity is great, but when a customer has a question, the employee should be able to speak in the dominant language of the area.

Zao is one of my favorite restaurants! I love how quick it is to get your food and they have tons of vegan options. My favorite things to get are either the rice noodles with teriyaki sauce and veggies or white rice with yellow curry and veggies. I’ve had questions about their menu, so I’ve emailed them and they respond quickly.
