The food at ZAMA is delicious! My husband and I enjoyed the RockCornish mole, the Cordero Al Horno (rack of lamb), the Tuetanos a las Brasas (grilled bone marrow) and dessert was The goats milk flan. The Best flan we’ve ever had! Drinks are a must at Zama. The Cantarito and the Maracuyá margarita, with the perfect blend of sweetness and tequila are addictive! The atmosphere isn’t uptight or reserved like other fine dinning restaurants. It’s fun and lively and plays wonderful Latin music (like a true Latin place should be). The only upside to ZAMA, the hostess’s at the entrance we’re not very welcoming and seemed catty at times.

Parking is limited and the prices are on the higher side but it is sooo beautiful and has such a sophisticated feeling from the food to the servers and especially the drinks! I threw my sisters bridal shower here with a reservation for 19 people and they were so kind and accommodating. I would 100% recommend this place. Amazing food, drinks, and service! The place is such a vibe and perfect for a night out with the girls, date night, or party!

5 stars for Zama!!! We had my daughters birthday dinner there and it was absolutely AMAZING! The food, the ambience and the service was top notch! Our server Danielle was such a gem! She was very knowledgeable, helpful & patient with us!! A total sweetheart! Zama is definitely one of the best restaurants in Bakersfield!!! Highly recommended!! Thank you for a such a memorable time!!!

Dress up! I promise you will thank me !!! Love the atmosphere! I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. Deliciously unexpected flavor. A purée with amazing tortilla strips and avocado. #allergygirl asked for no avocado. Got it anyway… scooped it out and set it aside. No harm, no foul. I also had chicken in the soup and ordered the potatoes.

First time visit and absolutely loved this place! The energy was amazing especially for a Saturday night. The ambiance, service, and food were a perfect 10!! We ordered a Platón Zama which comes with a generous portion of steak. Definitely coming back soon!

I went on a Tuesday Night and ate at the bar and I had a lovely time! Jaz was the bartender and she was so sweet and knowledgeable. The menu here is unlike anything I’ve seen and I love how fun and creative everything was. I ordered the RockCornish Mole because I had to know what that was like, and I loved it. So similar to a traditional chicken mole, but the rockcornish hen was soo juicy and I couldn’t believe how well it went together. They also give you a variety of salsas, including a chili oil, with chips and tostadas.

Zama makes a great attempt at fine dining in Bakersfield. The atmosphere is impeccable , and there is a solid effort made to create a special and memorable experience with little touches like a bar cart, performers, and some flashier offerings. That being said everything we had was terribly under seasoned. The salsas and chips served at the beginning of the meal lacked flavor, and the chips were very thick and overpowered the salsas. The octopus dish was over cooked and very chewy, though the presentation was stunning. I had three mezcal based drinks- the mezcal tomatillo drink, a smoked mezcal shooter from the bar cart, and the aloe verde. All were very sweet and out of balance. The tuna was the highlight of our meal, but I was disappointed by the veggies- I was fully excited for the pickled veggies listed on the menu and instead found a small carrot, a full mushroom and a single floret of cauliflower. We ended the night with the lava cake, which was a pleasant surprise. It had great flavor and seemed well prepared. Overall we had a nice time, but I wouldn’t come back. At this price point, I shouldn’t have to ask the waitress for a salt shaker.

The restaurant has a formal and bar side. We reserved the formal, but felt like the bar side had more atmosphere (depends on your group). The food was good, but the drinks were better. We tried to bone marrow and porkk belly tacos – both were great. The ribeye steak was okay.

The food here is amazing. The drinks are better! So many fun presentations for the drinks! The service was great and they are very attentive. The manger even came over to see how we were enjoying our time and making sure we were all okay! Great place to get dressed up and enjoy a night out.

The food was wonderful, but there weren’t many options that weren’t spicy.
