You feel like you are going over to a very talented friends house for dinner. We chose the four course. Plenty of food and a good way to try several different selections. The fish was well cooked with outstanding sauces. Starters are flavorful. Figure a two hour experience. Note: the perfect place for those with food allergies or restrictions! Cooked to order!

This was such a unique experience. The food and wine pairing were excellent. The dining room is cozy and well dressed, albeit a little dusty. Zach is super friendly and ready to answer any question you may have. This is a great way to enjoy time with friends and chat while being served delicious plates as the evening passes. Would do it again!

This was one of the best relaxed dining experiences I’ve had in Oregon. Don’t pass up the cocktails, they are exquisite, and the food is a perfect match. The meal was well-constructed from start to finish. Gluten free everything, too!

It was nice to be back after three years and see that Zach is still making stellar food. My husband and I made reservations for two nights. The entire restaurant operation is run by the chef himself, and he knows what he is doing. From first course to dessert, the experience is wonderful and the food made with quality ingredients. We tried the 5-course meals on our first night, and 3-course meals on our second night. Portions were appropriate for the pricing and my husband and I left very full. We look forward to being back again!

I dont want to be the only review which is negative but I also want to be honest about my experience. I had pretty high expectations based on the other glowing reviews and it was really disappointing. When seated, we were told that they were already out of several mains. The chef is also the ‘server’ which makes it difficult to get his attention if you need more water or drinks and he mostly came out to deliver dishes. The room you sit in feels pretty bare-bones and not the level we were hoping for. We thought the food was alright but there weren’t really any standouts or anything we’d want to have again. It felt like a waste of time and money to have driven up from our vacation in Yachats to try this place. We thought it could be improved if there were a server (even a high school kid running food and drinks), a better/more aesthetic atmosphere and if all of the options were available for diners or maybe fewer options but more delicious. That said, running a whole restaurant alone was a feat that is very ambitious and commendable. We got one of the 3.5 course options, a few drinks each and the total for the meal (tip included) was ~$180.

Dinner at Zach’s was the most pleasant dining experience we have ever had. Zach prepared beautiful locally sourced food and wine. We had the fresh Chinook salmon he picked up at the dock this morning.

A meal at Zach’s Bistro is a magnificent labor of love on his part and a wonderful dining experience for his guests. The menu is small, imaginative and eclectic. The wine list extensive. The dining room is intimate and uncrowded, with subdued classical music that permits easy conversation. Set seating times allow Zach to be host, chef and server, but makes prior reservations highly recommended. This is exactly the kind of eating experience I try to provide to my guests at home.

If you are in Newport, Zach’s bistro is a lovely experience. When I saw the reviews about his one man show, I had to check out his selection for my birthday dinner. We selected the 3 course menu with wine pairing. Zach’s taste was spot on from the INCREDIBLE sourced cheese plate to the lovely smokey red wine that went with my lamb entree. If you are looking for fast food this is not the place, but enjoy a slower but satisfying overall experience. Be sure to make a reservation in advance!

I was very excited to try Zach’s and it did not disappoint. The crab cake was exceptional because it was almost all crab. The sprouts on top of cake were sunflower sprouts and I liked their flavor and texture. My entree of wine battered halibut was delicious and there was lots of halibut! The slaw was crunchy and flavored with vinegar. Before our appetizer we were served a slice of Spanish cheese and after the crab cake we were served a chunk of bread with cinnamon flavored butter. Both of these little extras were delicious. After our entree we had a light cheesecake (almost mousse like versus a dense cheesecake texture) topped with cranberries and hazelnut. I enjoyed the dining experience and was happy to find another lovely cafe for my visits to Newport.
