So we were almost reaching bar harbor, but afraid what if all the restaurants closed? so we googled nearby restaurants while driving – and found this. yes, we were aware that restaurants in bar harbor town are quite expensive – and read (while researching) that few local joints offer straight-out-of-the-sea lobsters/shrimp on a pound basis. it is that sort of restaurant (?)

Grilled haddock sandwich was good. My wife mentioned the lobster roll meat was firmer and stronger tasting than usual. We believe that is what turned into cramping and sickness at 4am the next morning. When we got back home the father in law said “yup we had to bring clams back twice for being undercooked”.

They claim to be best lobster roll in Maine, and I can confirm that was my experience! Rick was a friendly face who greeted all guests and explained their process. The lobster meat was juicy and tender. It took all my strength to not get a second ! I enjoyed my afternoon in the sun at the picnic tables watching the boats go by. 5 stars ✨

Very cool place. Very fresh seafood. Shrimp, clams, oysters, and of course lobster. Kind of like an enclosed covered picnic setting. Picnic tables upstairs, noticed most families brought bags of their own goods like paper towel rolls and their own butter or butter heaters. Like you keep the tub of butter on top of a candle so it stays warm and melted. It was a little chilly but definitely protected from the wind and the elements, not too bad to sit and enjoy, but the food got cold quickly and the butter started to congeal before we were done using it. The lobster was delicious, I would recommend bringing some of those shell breaker things, whatever they’re called, because otherwise you have to do with your hands if you’re a rookie and that’s a little painful.

Stopped here for lunch on our way out to Acadia and was not disappointed. We ordered a lobster lunch and a steamers lunch. Definitely a bit on the pricey side, but at least you know it’s as fresh as it gets. Employees were friendly but all business. Wait time was pretty long despite only a couple other people being there. But for a real, authentic Maine seafood experience on the water, this is a good place to get it.
