After over 20 years of experience behind notable sushi bars like Sushi Roku (Santa Monica, CA) and Bamboo Sushi (Portland, OR), Sushi Chef Yoshi Ikeda introduces his first self-titled concept to Portland, OR, Yoshi’s.
As a second-generation sushi chef, Chef Yoshi serves a fresh take on Japanese cuisine that is fortified in tradition. He challenges the expectations of what “good sushi” is and proves that deliciousness can be achieved in even the most modest of food service venues: the food cart.

I definitely was not expecting this level of quality from a food truck, but it was absolutely divine. The seaweed salad was so fresh and the sushi was rolled just right – tight enough to hold together without compressing the rice.

For less than $25, you can get the best sushi in Portland … from a truck.

I travelled pretty far to try sushi from Yoshi’s sushi in Portland. We called ahead around 10am and placed a pre-order for lunch.

You have to call to place your order prior to pickup, starting at 10am until he sells out. He updates his voicemail daily to reflect his hours. He kindly called me back after missing him three times, since I was so eager to try his food.

I had heard about Yoshi’s Sushi but hadn’t had the chance to try it. Go, NOW. I called ahead to order as required and the man working was apologetic with the 25-minute wait. I actually thought it was going to be much longer since it’s literally a single person in a food cart working, and after eating these rolls, would happily wait twice as long. I had the Lime Green add Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and the Salmon Avocado rolls. I got a little greedy and three rolls was more than I could handle for dinner, but I finished it off as a midnight snack. It was amazing. I loved that my salmon was a natural pink; not this weird dyed farmed salmon color. The rice was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Whatever the vinaigrette on the Lime-Green roll was, was so good. Multnomah Village is fortunate to have such a treasure!

Delicious and unique sushi. We found this place via an Eater video and thought we’d try it on our Oregon vacation. Called ahead and got a special roll with curry shrimp tempura and spicy salmon, a salmon and avocado and scallop nigiri. All were amazing and fresh!

Delicious. Had a bit of everything and will definitely be back. We’re from Denver and often dine at Sushi Den, its of the highest quality sushi in Denver. Yoshi’s Sushi is right up there with it. Would highly recommend.

Located in the French Quarter food pods, Yoshi Sushi will most likely meet your expectations for finely prepared sushi.

Incredible Sushi at a great cost. His Lime Green Role is out of the world good. Its vegan…. Really nice person, truly an excellent sushi chef.

I visited Portland for the first time and had to try Yoshi’s after seeing him on the Munchies video. He was so nice and friendly to talk to and the sushi was amazing! I will definitely come back if I go back to Oregon.
