The only reason I gave this place a 3 stars is because of the rude employee they had. When I walked up to the counter the male employee asked me what I wanted. As soon as I started to tell him he kept interrupting me. When I was able to finally finish the first thing on my order he walked away and started making it but then walked out of the place. Another employee came over and took over our order. We had no idea why he was rude to us when we had been nothing but polite. The food we had was good and so was the ice cream. It was cash only. When they brought the food to the window it was the rude male employee again. He opened the screen and looked at me and said “you. Come here.” Gave me my food and didn’t say anything else. Probably wouldn’t go back.

No seating, as it’s just 1 order and 1 pickup window, and it’s honestly not fast food, so takes a few minutes once you order, but the homestyle food prepared in this tiny multigenerational place makes up for it. The owner is on the premises and prepares the food while college kids work the windows and are very helpful and friendly. It’s along the 1.5 mile long beach and only one of 2 or 3 similar establishments, closes Labor Day weekend, very popular. My fave is the pepper burger, a large med rare burger on a fresh seeded roll with raw fresh peppers, cheese if you like, $5.25 includes tax and I don’t think I could make one for that. Wrapped in foil w/packets of ketchup etc so it’ll stay warm to get it to the beach, hotel or cottage. Great onion rings, fries, ice cream, wraps, hot dogs and even the classic fried dough w/powdered sugar for 3 bucks. Try it if you’re at the beach you’ll love it. Look for the lighted ice cream cone above.

Gave the food 5 stars but it’s a relative rating. This is quick beach food and it’s good food at a great value. I go here all the time with my kids and we look forward to it opening each year. This place is 100% worth going to and please call it the “Blinky Cone” 🙂

A fixture along Long Sands in York Beach for 50+ years. A great spot to get a quick bite to eat to bring back to the cottage or over to the beach. Delicious soft serve ice cream!

Wouldn’t have minded paying too much for frozen food and soft serve if the little girl working the counter wasn’t the most snide and rude person ever. If you’re in York, walk a couple more blocks to one of the other food places.

An all time classic – been going here for 25+ years. Must go if you are in YB during the summertime.

Walk-up ice cream stand right across from the beach. It’s our go-to place to grab a cone or a cup and walk along the beach front. The service is always quick thanks to some hard working kids and an owner who is hands-on and the ice cream choices were many and varied. They close between 9 and 10 pm, but at that time York Beach has quieted down and there’s plenty of parking right across the street. It’s a nice post-restaurant option for a portable, “alfresco” dessert.

There’s nothing better than getting a coffee soft serve in a waffle cone and walking by the beach
