I tried the signature set, which contains everything, beef sukiyaki, salmon, katsu, and veg. Great combination! The beef sukiyaki udon is also great!

Great set menu. The wagu sukiyaki is excellent. The clams in the soup are really fresh. The fried ika (squid) is lightly battered and not overcooked. Toy definitely should try this place.

Everything was very flavorful and came out super quickly. The karage chicken and hand rolls were great appetizers. The sukiyaki udon was deeply filling and flavorful. I will definitely be coming back here!

You are on the customer side of a cooking video game here. You order via ipad and you are able to see your order entering different statuses: being prepared, done, delivered. You order drinks like plain water, hot water or refills for your tea pot via ipad. I looked around and saw that they had fewer staff in the general eating area for a restaurant of this size. Such a fun place to eat if you are an engineer or someone who likes to people-watch or study efficiency/effectiveness of dining establishments. Okay, so back to the food part of the review. So tasty! The sakura sencha was a very fragrant and high-quality tea. The takoyaki arrived piping hot with the katsuo-bushi flakes waving from the steam escaping from the dough balls. The octopus was chewy and had a smokey flavor. (yum) The miso shiru was well-flavored (not overly salty like some places). The tonkatsu and most importantly the eggy sauce was well-cooked to be soft and runny. I was surprised by the generous portion of eggplant in the nasu miso. We had such a nice lunch that we opted to eat lighter for dinner. You will not leave hungry. Ambience=5, Service=5, Food=5.

YAYOI cupertino is so popular, at least 30 min wait for weekend dinner. Food quality is good, this is one of my go-to place for everyday Japanese food.

Went around 2hrs before closing time and we were immediately seated. I hear you usually have to wait. Had two servers who were decent (esp the female server). Ordered via a tablet. It makes ordering easier. Other than the photos shared in this review, we also had tamago yaki, which was the only dish I didn’t like (too firm and salty for me), and Sapporo beer. Food there is good overall, but quite overpriced. The sushi was actually decent, which is harder to find around here. They also give free rice refills, but the portion sizes are on the smaller side so idk if anyone would need additional rice. The rice isn’t bad for the area as it’s been hard to find good quality Japanese food in the area. But unmemorable. Those 2 sushi rolls in the photos are just under 5 bucks each, and despite being delicious, they can be eaten in one easy mouthful. That’s a decent guage for the overall pricing for everything. We paid close to 100 usd for what we ordered (!!!), but I had a nice time with good company so I may go back whilst I’m holidaying in the area. Definitely not a place I’d go more than twice on my trip though due to the price. Beer came in a pretty and chilled glass. The tables and chairs were clean. They had subtle music (reminded me of new age jazz) that wasn’t blaring/obnoxious/pop. The upscale atmosphere seems just right to grab a beer and some appetisers. On the downside, they use poor quality disposable wooden chopsticks that splinter everywhere. Their bowls are cheap and do not match the nice food they serve. But at the end of the day, I took a star off because the prices are steep and that’s really all.

An order of salmon teriyaki combo for takeout lunch. Happily surprised with good and balanced taste. Salmon seemed to have been slightly breaded and fried on the skin side. The teriyaki sauce was quite good and different than typical teriyaki sauces. It was lighter but balanced, making the combo with slightly breaded and sautéed salmon go very well. The side salad and miso soup went well with the main also. I’m giving 4 stars for now. I will update the score after an actual onsite visit…
