I love that this restaurant is family owned, the service is great, very friendly and professional. And the sushi is always good. (California roll) I wish there was more of a drink/wine selection but either way its a great place to eat!

Ive been coming here for years. The food is second to none, the closest to authentic Japanese cuisine you will find in the area. Love the environment small and intimate. The perfect restaurant in my opinion

I have been going to Yami-Ichi with my friends and family since they opened and it has always been a wonderful experience! It is one of my favorite restaurants in Mahopac. Not only is the food delicious but the atmosphere is cozy and the service is top notch. Some of my favorites include gyoza, katsu curry, shoyu ramen, and oyako-don. The setting is nice and intimate as there are enough tables to avoid over-crowding – every table has their own space. George’s service is excellent and he is always friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable. My family loves the authentic food and beverages offered at Yami-Ichi and we will continue to dine there!

My family and I have been coming to Yami Ichi since they opened. I moved to North Carolina 2 years ago and this is the only place I crave when I come back to visit my family. The sushi is always fresh, and the miso ramen is my absolute favorite. The owners put so much thought into their menu and making customers feel at home. Pictured is sushi a la cart, miso ramen, and kimchi. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Absolutely amazing in every way. Anything you order, to go or dine in, will be delicious (the shoyu ramen is so good) and with that you receive amazing service. The owners are such down to earth people and are always incredibly kind. Perfect place, definitely check it out.

terrible service, walked in and nobody around so me and a friend walk to the counter where a sushi guy is busy behind the counter but we’re in clear sight. five minutes later a middle aged white man finally walks out and rudely says to go sit down and he’d be with us. 15 minutes later and we’re still sitting at the nastiest table no drinks or menus while that white man who I guess is the busboy too was going back and forth from the kitchen waiting about other 3 other tables (all white people) but it was not busy at all. we just left, glad I didn’t eat here I have no doubt this place is not authentic. literally any dingy ramen shop in nyc tastes much better than this, along with MUCH better service too. definitely avoid this place if you’re a person of color, and just most “restaurants” in this area as well. do yourself and read the real reviews (lowest) and not the paid ones- it’s too obvious at this point.

This establishment was not to my liking. Food was not bad, but essentially mediocre. I ordered miso ramen. Broth was okay. The noodles were nothing special. The pork (not chashu) had a strange texture. We had takoyaki appetizer, and that was okay.

This place is great. Ordered my first Japanese ipa and 3 rolls to go with it. The food was spot on. The service was also very good, our server was very attentive and polite. Definitely a great place to eat and I would recommend any day.

Absolutely delicious food! We ordered the gyoza & Takoyaki and it came out HOT and fresh. The sushi was the freshest I’ve had in a long time— everything from the sushi rice to the nori & especially the fish, you’d think we were right by the ocean. The owner was very sweet & welcoming. Looking forward to another visit soon!

I never got a chance to write a review for this place though I’ve been coming since 2019. The owner (George) makes a regular attempt to get to know every customer down to their names and birthdays and honestly where will you get that type of treatment anywhere else. The food is great and I find myself coming back regularly half just to have a nice conversation with him again, and to get the same order of ramen I’ve been getting for years. Highly recommend anybody who is a ramen fan.
