Stopped here on my way through the area on a recommendation from a friend. Thee food was good and atmosphere was fine. A little bit harried on the service. Probably because they were new. Having other voices for your salad dressing than yum yum sauce would be nice. Also need to be sure if that’s all your offering at least keep the table top condiment containers. Other than that a nice place to eat.

Been going to this restaurant since they first opened. Food is always usually great. Went there for date night. Ordered food, $45 total, server was decent but never attended to us. Never got a refill on drinks, extra napkins etc. Still gave her a 18% tip instead of 20 or 25%. When we paid to leave, my girlfriend asked if she could get a tea to go since she never got a refill. We left happy. Takes a sip of the tea, tastes like sauce. The waitress / guy working register must not have liked her tip amount for poor service. Emptied the cup to find half of it filled with yum yum sauce & 1/4 was soy sauce, 1/4 tea. You’ve lost a customer for life, one that used to go regularly & since your inception. Customers beware of what they might do!

I’m usually not one to talk poorly about restaurants that I like especially being in the retail industry for as long as I have but because this establishment is a crowd favorite and has a reputation I expect them to hold to their own. After Yamato moved locations from Kroger to the Eastern side of Richmond service has gone down considerably. First had to wait for our order to come out way longer than should have considering the appetizer was potstickers and we got two Bento boxes. When the food actually finally came out the protein and sides were cold. I assured the server I knew that it was not her fault. Her name was Kelsey and she was more than willing to help our situation out. I also reassured her that I am usually not want to make waves in the service industry by complaining but this was just out of hand this time. The waitstaff also started putting chairs on tables as if they were closing right next to us 30 minutes before the end of service making us feel extremely rushed. Kelsey was the only good experience about Yamato at their new location. I will be back in the next time I am I expect what they have given in the past. We were comp 20% on the bill which is fine, but I have no problem paying the money for the food and service I expect from an establishment that is respected as it is.

Waited 15 minutes on seat. Waited 15 minutes on someone to take our drink order. Waited 30 minutes for food to arrive. They brought fried wonton strip and a sauce to the table. The wontons were cold and stale and sauce even colder. Order steak (medium) and shrimp habaticci with fried rice and clear soup. Steak was chewy, tough and not medium. Rice was not seasoned very well. Clear soup was hot but mushroom was hard and did not taste well. There were 3 of us it cost $90 plus tip. No alcohol. I had water.
