Finally, good Japanese food that we don’t have to drive 40 minutes, one way, to get to. Yamato is a welcome change from the last restaurant that occupied this space in Moraine Pointe Plaza. The place has been nicely renovated and is very clean. We ordered Pan Fried Gyoza for an appetizer and Teriyaki Salmon Bento boxes for lunch, one with fried rice, one with steamed rice. We were first pleasantly surprised by the crispy, tasty Gyoza (dumplings). Then came the flavorful grilled vegetables and salmon. Every item was fresh, hot as expected, and, likewise, cold as expected (California Rolls). I, personally, have to note that their water is good. I have to ask for lemon in my water at many restaurants to disguise the funny taste. But, Yamato’s water needs no modifications . We are excited to have Yamato in the neighborhood and hope the other locals will enjoy and support them, too .

Get the tempura shrimp, you won’t regret it. I also had a tempura California roll this time and it was quite a trip. So good. The teriyaki chicken from the bento had a juicy, smoky flavor to it. And the rice – the rice even! – is a step above the rest. 10/10 would recommend will be going back again.

So yummy! And they make their Yum Yum sauce right! I’ve been searching far and wide for a Japanese hibachi that makes Yum Yum the way I like it. This place is on point! Ordered from DoorDash 4 times this past week.

For a great meal at a reasonable price- Yamato Hibachi Sushi! I had the chicken and steak combo and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was done to perfection, the spices were tasty, and it was not overly salty. You could taste each of the wonderful flavors not just salt. My order was completed in minutes and one of the staff even brought it to my place of business. I am highly impressed with this new business and their attention to customer satisfaction.

I’ve come here multiple times, by myself and with others, and I’ve never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and prompt woth service. The food is always tasty and has never left me wishing I hadn’t gone. Overall this is a fantastic and affordable sushi restaurant and I will keep coming back!

A woman who was not my waiter came over, tried insulting my daughters hair then for some bizarre reason she laid her head on my shoulder about 6 inches from my plate of dinner. When I said something about it, I was told it was her personality and offered 30% discount. Not enough. I couldn’t even eat my dinner after that.
