We were passing through Carthage on a road trip looking for some food. We stopped by The Wood Inn due to some recommendations. I didn’t feel like a very family friendly space. My kids were a little uneasy about being there. Place was clean and the service was great. The food may have been good for the area due to the lack of options. It was not bad, but also was not memorable.

They saw I was white and didn’t put enough flavor on my wings . They also made em into jerky. I heard they had really good wings here so I’m kinda disappointed. Still ate em though. Otherwise pretty good. I’ll probably come back when the good cook is cooking the wings (whoever it is). My sister who recommended their wings said to try lunch next time.

We were so happy with everything! I got the Philly Andy wife got a grilled salad. We also got the green bean and cauliflower appetizers. All were perfect and all came out way fast. We both enjoy the big thing of ranch you get for 50 cents. The workers were super nice and chatty. And all the old men at the bar top really seemed to love having our 9 month old in there laughing and giggling at everything.

Very good food, tenderloin sandwich, cheeseburger and the wood chips were delicious. Chips were a tad salty, but that’s how they make them, few different seasonings. Cool bar, very clean. Our server was very friendly, was a young gentleman. We would stop at the Wood Inn in Carthage, IL again.

Stopped in on a road trip. I’m glad I found this jem. The decor had antique signs and whatnot. We both had the Phylly steak sandwich. Melt in your mouth delicious!
