As a sushi lover, I can’t get enough of this place. The only way it could be better is to cut prices. But why would they if it’s that good? We may have spent more than intended here. We felt comfortable bringing our child here and meeting new people. The service was great. We felt welcomed. We chose this location because they provide to level food and aren’t super packed like other places around.

Absolutely phenomenal. I order BIG TIME from this spot. They are open late. Because i order in, i am not influenced by the ambiance or the fake bs, all i focus on is the sweet tender buttery nigiris and rolls. And let me tell you folks, you won’t be disappointed. Have yourself a little udon chicken bowl while you’re at it, a miso if you’re feeling fancy.

Wonderful Sushi Hillcrest, San Diego….I know now why it gets its name!. A small Izakaya, and for those of you wondering that’s s Japanese for Sushi Bar. But let’s get on with the review this place is located right about center city Hillcrest with easy access off of University boulevard located in the corner of it’s strip mall with plenty of parking. On our visit we were greeted and seated quickly, the atmosphere is upbeat with a nice variety of music playing in the background. Both inside and outside patio seating is available and is kid friendly. Although I wasn’t in the mood for sushi on this day there bento box really caught my eye and you won’t be disappointed. My wife opted for the tempura plate which was by far the most tempura I’ve ever seen served it was fantastic!! Both of our meals came with all the fixings soup salad etc and well portioned. The service was great didn’t see the waitress much lol but she was always there at the right time. Total cost for today’s lunch was $40 bucks not including the tip for both me and wifey!

Late lunch/early dinner. Service was solid, food was good. My first roll (snow ball roll) was good, but a little bland over all. My second roll (tempura spicy roll) was outstanding! Great mix of flavors!

Been to a couple sushi spots in SD and this one’s been my top pick so far. Seared Yellowtail roll is 10/10! it’s $16. This place is reasonably priced all around. Friendly staff. A coworker recommended this place so we decided to pop in. Got there on a weekday around 7 and was able to snag a parking spot right out front in the parking lot. Was immediately seated on the patio. The inside decor and ambiance is non-descript and pretty basic.
