This little diner style place has a great burger. They are very thin, so get at least a dbl chz. Crispy and still juicy. We also had a taco. It was simple but tasty. They had a breakfast too but we did not get any. It looked great though. The fried clams are awesome and so is the cauliflower. I had a Reuben the second time I came here. It was a good one. The mushroom Swiss burger had excellent flavor. The Swiss cheese made the sandwich.

This diner has been around since 1957 and had several different names, but the current owner has tried to keep things as retro as they were in the beginning. The staff was all smiles. They serve everything fried, even veggies. The Reuben was delicious. The tenderloin was simple. They serve alcohol. Prices are inexpensive to average. We plan on coming again when we travel through and trying new things! They don’t take cards and there were no visible signs saying as such. They do have an ATM with a service fee of $3. That was the only downside to the experience.

Moved to the area about a year ago and as far as local food goes this is my favorite so far. Food is delicious and affordable, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is attentive. They clearly do back of house type work so might take a minute for them to loop back to ya but they never just leave anyone hanging. They do take card as well now, I’ve seen older reviews stating to the contrary but disregard those. Overall just a great place to grab a bite and unwind.

Classic American diner food. Good prices, kind staff with a small-town appeal. I’d go back. Try the Big Willie.

The food is really good for what you pay, so, if you want a good value for your money, this is the place. Overall, good burgers. The patties are thin a la Steak N Shake, so if you have an appetite, get a double. Decent fries, but you should know that they are served un-salted. Surprisingly good fried cauliflower. This place definitely has its die-hard followers and I can understand why.

Wonderful little diner! Nice low prices for HUGE portions of food. The staff is super friendly! Glad we found this place. We will definitely be returning on our next road trip out this way. (The horseshoe is for the EXTREMELY hungry where the pony shoe is sufficient for most appetites.)

Very friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu. (Cash or check only)

This establishment is my favorite in vandalia. There is just something about the small town feel, everyone knowing eachother, and fresh food right in front of you! Shelley is the best to run this place and I love the staff!!! Breakfast is my favorite. The biscuits and gravy are amazing!

Got horribly I’ll from fried food there. I have learned they only have 2 fryers. They fry everything in them… Meat and veggies cross contamination. I went back to look at the fryers and they were absolutely GROSS. Black as tar! The cook touches the food items with her bare hands. No gloves. Again, GROSS!! Won’t ever consider eating there again.
