A 5-star restaurant, best restaurant in Joplin and an expensive but fantastic place to eat.

You want to try this place. The street view is old school but most people enter from the rear. Once inside you will be pleasantly surprised by the romantic, detailed decor that feels old school classy. The service is excellent and the food was fantastic! The salad was perfect, fresh and crisp. The big ribeye was cooked to perfection. And the bread pudding was mouthwatering! You will enjoy this place for sure!

The food is really good. I had the elk, creamed spinach, and crab dip. The crab dip was the only dish that was just okay. The food took some time to arrive but was delicious and hot upon arrival. A bread setting would have been nice to hold me over, especially at nearly $100 bucks a head. I would recommend if that’s in your range.

Very pleasant experience our waiter was knowledgeable and well versed in his craft. The food was good. The only exception was my Caesar salad. It was short on dressing. We had desert cocktails, onion rings(Mmm), salad, bread, blackened chicken, mashed potatoes and asparagus. My sweeter half had pork chops with fruit compote sauce, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. Too full for desert. Next time no cocktails or onion rings. Three deserts instead. lol

An absolute great place to eat. This was our first visit to Joplin and we found this place while driving Main Street. Food was. Great, service was great. You must order the bread pudding, it is to die for.

Excellent service. Had the bone in rib eye. Visually beautiful. Good char. Just a tad bit under seasoned as were the mashed potatoes. Maybe adding a little bit more salt to the herb butter would have got me there.

We had a one night stay in Joplin and found Wilder’s on Yelp. At first we wondered if it was even open but then saw others go in. There is plenty of parking in the rear. From the moment we entered it was the type of experience one wants to remember over and over. We did not have a reservation but were quickly seated. I am usually opposed to booths but this was not the type where you sink so the table is up to your chin and the person opposite seems a mile away! The seats sat high and the table was narrower so you could easily chat!

We visited last night for the first time 5/22 for my husbands 53 birthday. There was 3 of us under reservations- Jessica 6pm. Buns were very salty, I had the steak, Oscar, the chef was indeed happy with a salt shaker. Others in the party notice a strong salt taste.

The staff was wonderful. We called ahead a s should get a table by 8pm. We got there a little early and we’re seated right away. It was a tad bit dark and hard to see the menu. The staff was fantastic, the presentation was lovely. They asked how the steak was (which is was great) – they didn’t ask how everything else was. I hated the cauliflower au gratin. I had 2 bites. However everything else was fantastic. Would have enjoyed a different size dish though. The drinks were good too. It was a nice clean dinning experience. With food that taste buds enjoyed.

Good restaurant on Main street in Joplin. Restaurant has a lot of history. It’s a bit pricey but good. The service was very good. I had the blackened chicken. The portion ess s little small for the price. My colleague had a KC strip steak that he said was excellent. The decor is a little dated and inside is dark, but the food makes up for the decor. The creamed corn casserole is very good. The French onion soup is also good.
