this is Brookings hidden gem, locals don’t know about it because it is behind Lowe’s and Runnings on a weird back street. Ribeye was excellent. Sides were excellent. Pint craft IPAs were only $3 during happy hour!!! $6 for a double cocktail during happy hour. Restaurant was clean and the music was good. 5/5

I can’t recommend this place highly enough and I consider myself kind of picky. I went in for dinner (not through the event center) and it checks all the boxes. The atmosphere was fantastic, everything was very clean, the menu impressed with both its variety and creativity, the service was outstanding, and the prices were very reasonable. It wasn’t as busy as I expected on a Friday night, especially with the NAIA Track and Field Championships going on at the university, so I asked the server about that and he mentioned the place was under new management, so if you have sworn the place off before, you should definitely get back there and try it again.

What a wonderful venue to have a wedding reception at. Amy, Andrea, Eric and the rest of their team were absolutely wonderful to work with. We had our rehearsal supper, wedding reception and gift opening all at the Wilbert Square Event Center and it was wonderful! Our guest raved about the meals and we loved how our rooms were set up for each event.

A bit pricey but well worth the money. The food was superb and the wait staff attentive.

Service is slow. Plan for an extra 30-40mins for an average meal. Not due to lack of employees like the conveniently placed plaques that plaster the confusing decor but due to what seems like a lack of training. The bartender is careless in his attempt to get drinks out. There’s no drink menus at the tables and staff is unsure what they sell. There’s other support staff clearly in the restaurant but they are not delivering orders, bussing tables, or delivering food regularly. It’s almost as if no one really has any idea what they are doing. Management/ Ownership is lacking in attention to the issue if their idea is to inform guests to deal with slow service. The staff was nice and our waitress was trying really hard but clearly has no support. Food presentation was very nice and the quality of the food was pretty high which reflects the 3 Star. This place has potential especially with the hotel being attached but they really need to step it up for the price point of this restaurant.

Overall fun experience with a great atmosphere, kind of a hidden gem that’s not know. Overall food was solid, just went in for some wine and appetizers to give the place a try. Steak tips very tender and cooked well needed a touch more salt and pepper, garlic and herb scallops needed more garlic and less herbs but where tender and prepared well, lobster bisque was spot on, light and creamy. Lime and raspberry cheesecake was light and well balanced.

At this time, I would not recommend Wilbert Square Event Center. They certainly have potential to be a nice venue, but I would avoid at all costs until some changes have been implemented. What you can expect if your experience is anything like ours, or many of the previous reviewers: The event coordinator will not attend your event so you are on your own if you need anything the day of the event. The venue floor was filthy dirty with food from a previous event, but they asked us to decorate over it and they would clean later. They didn’t, so our wedding guests helped my ex husband clean the venue the day of the wedding. The food was as cold as it would have been taking it straight out of the refrigerator and the pasta was not cooked well (hard and sticky). At least 75% of our guests were served cold food. We were overcharged multiple thousands of dollars, then told that the corrected invoice (after requesting the invoice three times over 10 days and not receiving it) was offering us a “steep discount” despite our contract showing otherwise. The door frame fell off the wall part-way through the event and landed on a small child. It had been glued onto the wall with caulk. The venue was extremely hot during our reception, and no one was around to help us regulate the temperature. The tables still contained dirty plates of food, beer bottles, glasses and dirty linens the following day (some was bussed the night of, but much of it was left and even though we have photographs to corroborate, they didn’t believe us). When we brought all of these issues forward after the event, we were given every excuse under the sun, the event coordinator told us her staff was using us to “sabotage her” and the owners didn’t believe any of our legitimate concerns (again, as noted, the event coordinator was not on site for any of the event to dispute or corroborate our concerns). We asked for a discount for the extremely poor service and terrible food quality as their end of the contract was to provide a comfortable clean venue and hot food. They refused to refund any of our money claiming they already gave us a “steep discount” (a corrected invoice from the overcharge and they did not make us pay a gratuity). You can DEFINITELY find a better venue.

I give it a one star. I ordered food to go for lunch at work and the person who answered the phone didnt feel like ge should honor my food because u didnt eat it right away. I say i will never be in that establishment again. Seems you must eat your food upon ordering for it to be good. Next
