This place is amazing. I just moved into the area, I’ve lived in New York, Austin, Denver, and SF. These burgers are legit DELICIOUS. This place need some love, I’m genuinely shocked that they don’t have a line out the door daily, I hesitate to tell everyone how amazing they are because I don’t have to wait long. I love a hole in the wall small business. This place is exactly what I want in burger joint. Great food, staff that knows their product well, and it comes in a beachy casual vibe. First impressions are important and the young lady greeted us was so charming and chill, she set the mood off right. The restaurant itself is small, quaint is also a word I’d use if you remove uppity vibe that get associated with that word. This place is not uppity. It’s flip flop casual. The microbrews they had on tap were explained very well by same staff member that greeted us. I told her what kind of commercial beers I normally drink and she picked out a total winner for me. The menu was straight forward. Burgers and fries. They had tots and chicken too. I got the spicy Whomp. It was very good. The bun was prepared perfectly too. I touch of sweet to compliment the grilled jalapeños on the burger. My family ordered chicken, tots, the mushroom burger, and the original whomp burger. I sampled them all and I enjoyed them all. Now, the price, my family of 4 adults 3 teens and a toddler ate very well. 2 beers too. Portion sizes were great. My price was 157 dollars. About 20 dollars per person. That is really good for an independent place at the beach. Finally the seating. It’s small. 2 booths for 6 each, a few 4 tops, a few 2 tops and a drink and food rail on the front patio. I love this. It needs to be this small to hold the vibe the owners have created. Overall a must visit. Parking at the beach in San Diego is always a problem but whomp burger has spots assigned to them in the back. It’s worth the trip.

This is an excellent burger place. I had the Whomp burger with bacon and man, it did not disappoint. Juicy and cheesy, thick crunchy bacon, and just the right amount of their made-in-house sauce. Some places slather it on there to the point of ridiculousness but these guys put the exact amount on. I love the 80’s Vice City vibe to the place too. Brian was very friendly and had some great recommendations for other local places we should hit up too.

You gotta respect places like this that keep it simple and have really mastered their craft. You won’t find crazy sauces and toppings, and you won’t have to unhinge your jaw to get a bite. Just a dang. good. burger. no frills. I seriously had a ratatouille moment here where I remembered how my grandpa used to make burgers in the summer at his lake house. This burger took me there. Bravo! Il be back, and I’m telling all my homies.

I had a whomp burger with no bun added the house pickled jalapeños and side of fries. My husband had the deluxe burger with tots. Everything was so delicious! The whomp sauce was amazing and the bacon on the deluxe burger was cooked perfectly! Fries and tots were super crispy. The person working was really nice, too. Can’t wait to come back!
