Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties. Based on 402 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.9 stars. Price $

Nice location open 24 hours. We received excellent service with great food thats made to order. Mesha was awesome and made sure everything was correct. Some of the best customer service we have received! We definitely will be back if in the area again.

I have never had Whataburger until today. I got a whataburger meal. This location is a new store, and they were super slammed. It took 20 minutes to get our food as a result. The meal was good, but I was a bit under-whelmed. The fries were very fresh but too salty. The burger was a bit dry, too. Kind of rushed and thrown together, not enough condiments on it. The trash inside was overflowing, and people were just dumping their waste on top. The bathrooms needed some attention for clogs, too. The staff were nice, though. Parking was okay, but it’s confusing because half the lot was packed, and the other half was empty because no one knew there was another half. Overall, okay meal, but if the wait I had was the standard time, I would not go back. I think I will try them again at another location, though.

We stopped here on our road trip since we dont have these in Ohio!! There was a wait that was longer than what we were use to, BUT that is only because its not really fast food. The burgers are made to order FRESH!! Totally worth it!!!

Im writing this on behalf of the training going on now at Whataburger in Athens , Al. I have 2 young people who started training there this week, they will not be back ! A woman training one of them never showed them what to do , never let them go on break , though everyone else she told them when it was their break time ! This was this persons very first job ! They are very quiet and reserved and when hired they were told ” Oh We will work with you and show you the Whataburger way ! ” , If what that child went through their first day of training for the job to be a Whataburger employee , then they may never try to get another job again , Anywhere ! When they told the woman training that they were thirsty , and asked for water , she told them they had to wait 30 minutes for their break !!! Same thing when they asked to go to the bathroom !! Wait for your break !!! And we have several witnesses to all of this ! Do you know this is against the law Whataburger ? I am upset to say the least ! If i could go in and discuss this with the man who hired them , believe me i would have ,but rather im left to leave a review they probably will never read !!! I picked these teenagers up and the one who never got a drink or bathroom break was in tears ! They will never be back and if Whataburger trains your children this way , do you really want abuse put up on them at their first attempt to start out in the working world ? Not me ! It will take me agoodwhile to repair the damage done by this managing “woman ” or trainer or whatever you are ! Plus other workers were telling them what to do also , they were confused ,tired , thirsty , hungry and their self esteem almost destroyed by this woman on this shift monday evening ! Lady if you have children ,i guarentee you would be as upset as i am ,probably more so ! Never will we set foot here !

Beautiful, brand new Whataburger. I enjoyed my Whataburger and fries. They took our order immediately, but it took about 15 minutes to get our food. From my experience, slower service tends to be pretty typical for most of the locations I have visited. I recommend this restaurant.

Friendly staff but service a bit slower than you would expect. After long wait burgers were barely warm. Fries were hot but onion rings were not. Food was still good and order was accurate. Would eat here again but be prepared to wait

While our order wasn’t really correct or prepared exceptionally well, the service was amazing! Anesha Flowers was so kind and even encouraged me on my travels. Whenever I am driving through, I always try to stop! Thanks!

My husband and I were extremely worn out from moving all weekend so we stopped in for a quick bite at the Whataburger in Athens, AL….WOW, this place ran like a well oiled machine. The food was served quickly . It was hot and tasted fresh. The dining room was VERY clean and the employees were even cheerful!!!! The manager even picked up some trash off the floor and cleaned around the garbage can opening when she was in the dining area…..such a fantastic experience….we will definitely be back to Whataburger in Athens!!!!

Stopped in for lunch. Was 3 deep in line and waited about 10 minutes to place order. Waited 20 minutes for food to be delivered. Food wise everything was very good. Went to throw away trash and both receptacles were completely full.

Took 30 minutes for me to go from entering the drive thru area to being able to reach the order speaker. Another 10 minutes to get my food. I understand the staffing issues but on a SATURDAY dinner this is incredibly unacceptable.
