I recently came to Wasabi Bistro for the first time for dinner and drinks with my husband and some friends. It never felt like it got “too” busy while we were there, so we didn’t feel rushed and we were able to take our time catching up.

was excited to try this place, got to the restaurant and was barely acknowledged. was told they were “cleaning tables” when there were ton of free spaces and made us wait and look at our menus at the door for 15 min even though there were free tables. we ordered the $10 all you can drink and our drinks were watered down and tasted like water and flavoring. sushi rolls were cheap, but after the first bite we realized why. the fish was not fresh, possibly spoiled even. appetizers were frozen in the middle soon. we did get our food pretty fast but after we got our food no one checked in with us, any time we needed anything we had to wave down a server. after just feeling disrespected from the lack of attention from the staff, i wave them down for the tab and they added a 20% gratuity. REALLY?!?!? i was really appalled that they don’t mention this before seating you down, especially when they aren’t providing good customer service. i was wondering why there was such a lack of service and hospitality and now i know why. they know they are getting their tip whether they are rude or not. wow. wont be back.

The waitress is always so damn kind, fun, and super friendly. I love their agedashi tofu and double hamachi roll. This continues to be a go-to favorite in the Castro. For years now and for years to come, this place has always consistently been a good experience.

Solid sushi spot! My friends enjoyed the $10 all you can drink, which is truly an incredible deal. They have gluten free soy sauce available if you ask for it

I want to like this place but meh. Ate at the bar cuz it was such a long wait for a table even though there were several tables empty for longish periods after we sat down. Food was just ok. Did not taste hyper fresh. The place was filled with packs of 25-30 year olds SCREAMING at the top of their lungs because they could and likely ordered the $10 all you can drink special. It would have been annoying had it not been so bizarre.

Why has basic customer service died at so many restaurants in the city?! I sat down and was given a menu, and I was the only customer there. My server was setting tables and I had to wave her over after so time, to take my order. I wanted water, and was pointed to where I could get it myself, so I kept getting up to get some. My portions were small and pricey, and my appetizer(miso soup) was served last. When my sashimi was served it was just put in front of me, and they walked away without telling me what each one was. I wanted lemon, and some spicy flakes with this, but noone ever came back or was around, or ever asked me how everything was. I was, and am still hungry, but I just wanted to leave. I had to get someone’s attention for my bill. They also changed a $1.35 convenience fee for a credit card- which I’ve never seen at any restaurant, and my bill was $42. I always leave at least 20% when I eat out, but I’m not going to here, I left about 15% which was still too much. I guess this place is doing so great, they don’t have to care if anyone comes in, as countless restaurants around them are closing down. Best of luck to them, but I won’t be back.

TL;DR: Very, very mediocre sushi but the $10 all-you-can-drink is worth it.

Sushi was fresh and flavourful. Server recommended some fresh deliveries of scallops and shrimp which were wonderful. Prices are reasonable and dishes arrived quickly. Certainly would go again but unfortunately live out of town.

Service here is absolutely horrendous and unprofessional. The 2 times I’ve been here have both been bad. First time, we had made a reservation for 15 people and had a set specific time. When we arrived we were still made to wait another 45 MINUTES for our reservation with the host stating a table wasn’t free. I don’t understand since we had a confirmed reservation.
