We have come here a couple times – My husband always wants to go back but I have to agree with one of the reviewers, Sue gets worse and worse each visit to the point I never care to go again and the fish is okay but not fantastic – You literally think to yourself, I just wish this woman would shut up, multiple times throughout dinner. She wasn’t even our sever but just lingers (our actual server was great by the way). Sue is just an odd duck. If you enjoy paying high prices and working on self control, to not tell someone they talk too much; then go. Everyone should pay a couple hundred to have the Sue experience.

Great local fresh catch restaurant! Food was fantastic! The conch chowder was the best I’ve ever had. Even had some heat to it! They open at 5pm and had better get there close to that time. They close when they sell out. We went the night before at 730pm and was already closed but made it the following evening at 630pm. Got to talk to Walt, extremely friendly and had a great conversation. Definitely looking forward to going back soon.

The food was amazing. Their house slaw was so unique, my husband usually won’t eat slaw but he enjoyed theirs. The food is all by scratch and based on family recipes. The service could be more professional though.

What a wonderful place. The scallops simply melted in the mouth. My wife had the blackened grouper and it was magnificent. John’s Pass is a really fun place to visit as well. Will certainly be back.

Walt’z fish shak is one of the best!! We always come here and enjoy a slice of Old Florida with amazing fresh seafood, views, and great staff. The owner is so kind to check in on us, and the staff are splendid. We will be bringing our friends here for sure.

BUYER BEWARE! My family comes has come here, every year, for many years, when renting a summer place on Madeira Beach. The fish has been pretty good, most of the time. That was then, this is now… It has gone so far downhill, it seems beyond fixing. The flatware & dishes are very old & scrubby, and quite unappetizing. The prices have soared over the top, to the point of outrageous. They have tripled in the last few years, and the food is absolutely not worth it. They claim to have the “freshest fish”, but that is more often than not, very questionable, when you taste it. The place is dirty & cluttered. My pants got ruined sitting on a soiled, food-covered chair…and the highlight of their decor, is a filthy, dusty, fake Christmas tree, with old melted candy canes on it, that has been set up in a display window-since forever. How does the Board of Health allow this? The Owner/Manager, (Sue) is one of the most unpleasant, unhinged, unprofessional, unwelcoming people you will ever meet, and she gets worse with each visit. We will never ever return to Walt’z again, nor will we refer it to anyone, anymore.

Walt’s wife, the older blonde lady, is honestly the rudest person I think I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. The first time we went there, we walked in and were looking at the chalkboard menu when she walked up and told us that they only served seafood and if that didn’t suit us, we needed to go elsewhere. Later in the week we went back, and there were two older couples ahead of us looking at the chalkboard menu when the blonde gal walks up. They had a couple questions about the menu and she then proceeds to tell them that she can tell they aren’t going to be happy there and they should just eat elsewhere. The people ended up walking off and said they’d never be back. Just amazing that a business owner would treat customers that way. I know we will never be back and certainly will never recommend eating there to anyone else.
