We celebrated my fiancee’s birthday here. I planned a 20 guests dinner to surprise her. Beverly was amazing. She and her staff are professional. Our servers helped me decorate and did a great job. The evening went amazing, the food was delicious, the ambiance was private and cozy, the service was great and so polite. Our guests loves all the meals. My fiancee loved it!!! And, she said yes!!!

Service was very slow though it wasn’t at all busy. My husband’s pasta bolognese was overcooked and overly salted. Wasn’t sure how you can mess up and very basic classic italian dish. My chicken was obviously burnt from the searing but the chef still served it. It also was overcooked, dry and also overly salty because of the reduced oily sauce. The skill and execution of the dishes was very poor for the menu price. Such a waste of money and good summer evening.

We eat frequently in Montclair and there are many good restaurants, but the food at Walnut Street Kitchen is better than any other restaurant in Montclair. The food was absolutely delicious! The dishes were not the typical fare — great combinations that worked really well. There were four of us, all with different tastes, and we all thought the food was OUTSTANDING! I could not recommend this restaurant more.

Recently celebrated my birthday there and the food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. I LOVED the octopus appetizer special and the stuffed calamari for dinner. My family and I had a wonderful experience! We all enjoyed the food so much. I even went back for NYE with a group of friends. I can’t rave about this place enough!

Party of 12 to celebrate a special birthday. The food and the service were both outstanding! We went with a price fix menu – family style appetizers, selection of 4 entrees and dessert. Everyone commented on how good the food was.

Food 4, service 2 (3.5 total). Food highlight was the pork chop which was a nice piece, cooked very tenderly (heavy garlic). We also had the cheese gnudi which was nice but a small portion for an entree. Beats appetizer was good, large portion and tasty if not especially special beets. Orange oil cardamom cake was excellent although fairly pricey at $12 for a small piece. Service was super slow and the restaurant was not full. Took 2 hours total for 4, including long waits for apps and dessert / coffee. The timing didn’t seem to bother the staff as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be but the waits were a bit painful, almost as if something was wrong (sat evening). It can get a bit loud (was so both times we’ve been there, moved to a table in the rear room last time). I think I want to like it a little more than I have each of our two visits.

This is honestly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Bev made us feel like family. She came over and checked in on us a few times. She even modified a recipe when she discovered that one of us was vegetarian.
