We entered as customers but left as friends. It’s no surprise with Waffle House – they’re uniformly clean and good – but this location offers a bit extra: a warm spirit, a joie de vivre. It is a place ordinary moments become memories and warrants a special spot at the top of your Athens list. Everyone from the host to the kitchen staff to the man who guards the door provided smiles and a kind word. We cannot wait to return.

Quick service and food tastes good, but man, is this particular location always a MESS I went in and it was hot & dimly lit w/ dumpsters by the register and water all over the floor. The two workers on staff were sitting around hunched over like they just trudged out of a still image of the Great Depression. Definitely a 1/10 for cleanliness & atmosphere Like where is the health inspector???

“An irony-free zone where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. Where everybody, regardless of race, creed, color, or degree of inebriation is welcomed. Its warm yellow glow, a beacon of hope and salvation, inviting the hungry, the lost, the seriously hammered, all across the south, to come inside. A place of safety and nourishment. It never closes, it is always, always faithful, always there for you.”- Anthony Bourdain

I can not say enough amazing thing about Mrs Bobbie .. this lady right here made my whole trip to Athens worth it. She is the sweetest kindest amazing lady ever. She made sure my husband and I had everything we needed she even came back to refill us b4 we needed it before we asked she offered us Togo containers.

If you get mad at these great employees it’s just because they are overwhelmed in bar central on a Crazy Party night. I’ve been in here 3 times late at night. 2 times it was CRAZY and they were all working their butts off. Nice people from my experience. Tonight it’s slow and they are so kind and attentive. Food rating is good, just the same as all other Waffle Houses I’ve been to.

Sometimes the food is really good, other times, especially to-go orders aren’t made with as much care or accuracy. Missing ingredients, toppings, side items, etc. Occasionally, especially during slow times, the staff seems to be more interested in talking or cleaning than giving service, such as re-fills, delivering food, giving the ticket, etc. All in all, I’ve never had a 100% satisfactory experience with ANY of my visits.

It takes way too long to get served in this place. 45 minutes of waiting when you walk in and there’s 4 uncleaned, empty tables. And there were only 2 tables ahead of us. They don’t care. Theyre understaffed. Big dumpster fire energy.
