Vito is Born and raised in Hoboken and started working as a deli clerk at the tender age of 14. On September 22, 1986 Vito’s Italian Deli opened for the 1st time and has only improved with age.

I’m visiting and I was suggested by a local person to give Vito’s a try for their fresh mutz (mozzarella) and sandwiches. Boy am I happy about the suggestion. The staff was so nice and offered my friend and I a fresh slice of mutz and it was absolutely amazing! They are so friendly and even whipped up a sandwich for me according to my dietary restrictions. I loved it! It was huge with a bug piece of battered chicken with broccoli rabe (rapini). My friend had different kinds of salad and really enjoyed them as well. They have a few tables and chairs outside so that you can sit and eat. However there isn’t any space inside. Thanks to everyone there for making it such an enjoyable experience for my friend and I. I definitely recommend this place. I will go back on my next visit for sure.

best deli in new york! i was blown away by this place. $10 gets you a dense italian sub with value you simply cannot find in nyc. on top of that taste wise the mutz shone through but everything else was plentiful and tasty

Authentic, perfect. PERFECT. PERFECT. Brings me back to when my mother and I would make sandwiches together on Sundays. Simplicity that bring out the most divine flavors. I love ordering from them. Want a great lunch? Catering? Go here! Prosciutto de Parma with fresh mutz, basil lightly seasoned, extra on both. Second is roast beef and mutz extra on both. Their bread is so soft and fresh. Mutz is the best!! Everything we ordered was spot-on and so delicious. Limited seating outside on sidewalk, which was perfect! Cute neighborhood. Get a bagel (or 6) next door. Awesome for when you can finally eat again after filling up at Vito’s

Wow. This is hands down the best Italian deli shop I’ve tried so far. The place is small and very active. Great customer service, and fresh / natural ingredients make the experience pleasant. I tried the daily special (Vito’s Hero) and the Cappicola and Mutz basic hero. Both are excellent subs, but the spicy Cappicola blew me away. I recommend you try this with hot peppers to spice things up a bit. The fresh mozzarella is absolutely delicious! My mouth waters just thinking about it. Very strongly recommended. I know I will be coming back.

Definitely a good Italian spot to go to. I got a few roast beef and mozz sandwiches, fresh mozz and prosciutto. All of it was on point, the staff was extremely friendly, efficient and fast. The store has a wide variety of items, very fresh food and well stocked.

I stopped in two weeks ago to get fresh “mutz” We were attending a family gathering and I saw that Vito’s is open on Sunday so I tried it. The mozzarella was still warm when I bought two braids. Family raved about how delicious it was. Fresh basil from my cousins garden that morning and Jersey tomatoes nothing better!

Went there on a Sunday — the line was out the door, but service was quick and the employees are super friendly. Their mutz is second to none and one sandwich can easily satisfy two people, and I’m talking Americans here. Very delicious.
