It is a very difficult job to be a food critic, especially when writing a review for only a second time in my life, so I won’t even pretend to be one. Nevertheless, I believe it may be beneficial for any potential patrons of the place we visited to put forward a few words about the good, the bad and the ugly. As far as the latter two, we found none for the Vista Spring Cafe. The food, the service, the environment, and surrounding are all good. The menu isn’t long, but each item we ordered was very pleasing to our taste buds and stomachs. Few of us ended up with plates completely cleaned up and the little of the food that was left simply couldn’t fit into our stuffed bellies anymore. The waitress provided very prompt service and was able to tend to every question and menu alteration we threw at her. The place itself, though not very big, is nice and cozy with some interesting installations and decorations of the mid-twentieth century. It is situated in an upscale neighborhood on a hill, which can be explored before or after the meal, provided the weather cooperates. Of course there are also few smaller tables set outside during the warmer seasons, so a not too big group of customers (along with their pets) can actually explore a corner of that neighborhood while consuming the meal. Overall the Vista Spring Cafe is a wonderful place that’s definitely worth returning to.

Nice cozy atmosphere. A lot of neighborhood people lauded their pizza so we gave it a try, ordering the Sicilian. The pizza was good, not quite great. Salads were solid. Waitress was very nice.

An Italian restaurant in a residential area. Their pizza is great!! It is the best pizza in Portland. Not sure why it is not publicized so much, yet many people know how good their pizza is. A true hidden gem. On the weekends they can be quite busy and you may have to wait for a table.

Vista Spring has always been there. It’s never the first place I think of to eat out but it’s always the place I’m so thankful has been around when I do. The pizza is pretty good, everything is straightforward and dependable. It’s just a great combination of cozy, warm atmosphere, decent food, and a historic location (one that I hope keeps keeping on).

Italian menu featuring salads, pasta, and pizza. Great tasting, locally sourced. Amazing presentation and flavors on the spinach ravioli. No reservations, arrive early!

This is one of my favorite little hideaways tucked away up in the West hills. They have the Sexton which is my favorite single malt Irish whiskey, and incredible gluten-free pizza. Our server was friendly and amiable and the atmosphere was perfect for an intimate meal.

Fine wine and dining in this hillside eatery. It’s been around for decades and the regulars are plenty. Wide variety of Italian food options and plenty of beverage options for adults (and kids, too)

Good. Nothing too exciting on the menu but the burger and Ruben were good. It also has a good assortment of salads. Looked like the pizzas were popular at other tables. The house cocktails all sounded good. The Paton Paloma was good, not too sweet but a little too much soda water.

Excellent and friendly service in a comfortable setting. Food was very good, though the salad could have been tweaked and been above and beyond. Still, very happy solo dining experience and will certainly be back again.

Passed this cute cafe 2-3 times a day thinking it was just another brunch place in Portland. Once I heard Italian I had to try because I haven’t found good Italian food here yet. The experience was wonderful, from the dim lighted inside to the friendly staff. The lasagna was as amazing as my mothers was, the lobster bisque, The best I have ever had. Will definitely be back to try everything
