This restaurant has yummy flavorful food. I love getting take out from here after work if I don’t want to cook. Clearly you can see I prefer the two chop/ two sides option but I did also try the chicken. Note the golden color of the seasoned batter on the wings. I like their dessert cakes also. The food is homemade and you can taste the difference between this food and a chain restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the food is seasoned and delicious. Tasty.

The food was absolutely delicious, but the only downside is the containers they put your sides in are SUPER small. Even the cornbread when I opened the container was a small cube… so yeah it was delicious but the side portions are disappointing.

It’s a NO. $30 and I threw it in trash. It’s extremely overpriced for what I received in quality . I got smothered chicken, Mac n cheese and greens. The smothered chicken seem to be a unseasoned fried chicken with jar r gravy on top over a very sparse, thin bed of yellow rice. Macaroni and cheese had a weird chemical taste to it. The greens were real, but weren’t very appealing with all the other food. Corn bread was blah. The young lady that took my order seemed to be very attentive and pleasant though. I won’t be returning.

I just had the best chicken and waffles I think ever here at Vickey’s soul grill! You get 2 big waffles with 6 whole chicken wings honestly enough for two people! The chicken was cooked to perfection! If your in the penn hills area it’s a must! You can eat inside too. Not just take out!

This place is a diamond in the rough! My family and I visited here from VA and we had the pleasure of meeting Miss Vickey herself! She was a gem! The atmosphere was so pleasant and relaxing and the food..LORD HAVE MERCY!!! It was amazing! It reminds me of my grandmother’s southern cooking. It was such joy eating here! You MUST eat here!

Everything I have gone to eat there there is a sign posted on the door closed due to a special event. It would be nice if it said it on the website. I hear the food is great. I had two cars of people and we all had to go back home without a meal.

This is first time eating from this place.. It was a Mother’s Day treat. My mom and I thought the food was delicious. I had oxtails with rice, mac n cheese, green beans and yams.. Cornbread was included was dry and I could have done without but my Mom seems to love it because she soaked hers in butter. The Oxtails was highlight of my dish.. It was so tender and flavorful. The downside and reason I gave 4 stars is because there was a hair ♀️ in the oxtail/rice portion. Maybe because it was the busiest weekend, Mother’s day. Idk. I was alittle grossed out for a moment but it didn’t take away from how great most of the food was. They just need better hair nets!!!‼️‼️ My mom also think the price of sweet potato pie was alittle high for size of a slice.

My son really liked it. I’m still on the fence but will go back to try something else the smothered pork chops were too salty for me to eat and the yams were a little too sweet. Chicken,cabbage, rice and peas were good. I just think that it needs a little tweaking to be off the chain.

My first impression of walking in was it smelled like your favorite aunts house. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is inviting. The waitress was very nice and was great at making sure she suggested things to give us just what we needed. The Cod dinner I had was in a to go container although I ate there. The aroma was so fulfilling it was like having an appetizer. My fish was cooked to perfection. Crispy on outside and flaky on the inside. Seasoned perfect a nice thick filet. Make cheese had that snap back on it delicious. Cornbread soft and buttery and greens seasoned like Thanksgiving. I was able to meet Ms Vickie.she is kind loves what she does and is serious about how she delivers service. Hands down the best soulfood spot in the city. I’m willing to argue about it. Lol. Do your self a favor get you some.
