Stopped by with some extended family members for dinner during restaurant week. Tried the radicchio salad, meatballs, focaccia bread, Margherita pizza, sausage and honey pizza, and a variety of gelato options. I lived in Naples, Italy for a couple of years. As you would expect, the pizza was incredible and I’m always interested in tasting local attempts at similar style pizza. Vicino pizza was good, but I would place heavy emphasis on the style in “Neapolitan-style” versus bring true to the original. Their sauce does have the sweeter San Marzano tomato flavor, but their mozzarella didn’t have the strong flavor, and the crust closer to American style pizza in thickness. Not sure if they use 00 flour, but it didn’t seem like it. Therefore, the margarita pizza was ok, but nothing that brought back memories of Naples or anything. By comparison, I would recommend the sausage and honey pizza as it offered a unique flavor pairing that was quite nice. Our entire dinner party tried each others orders and reached unanimous consensus that we would not recommend anything beyond the pizza. The radicchio salad had an unusually bitter after taste, meatballs tasted like meatloaf, the focaccia like toasted burger buns, and the gelato was more like ice cream in texture and it tasted like the recipes needed much more refinement to reach the quality for serving at a restaurant. If I lived in CDA, I would consider getting the pizza on occasion – but otherwise, it’s not worth going out of one’s way for it. Plus, the service was poor in the ways mentioned in other reviews. The servers were not particularly friendly from start to finish, plus everything took an extraordinary amount of time. As one example, I asked for a beer at one point, reminded the server after 15 minutes, and finally got it about 5-10 min later. Overall, we were at the restaurant for 2 and 1/2 hours because of what appeared to be inefficiency with service versus our desire to be there. Vicino has a lot of potential, and hopefully they’ll work out some of these kinks to become the go-to local pizzeria.

I stopped in last week while staying across the street for business. It was a challenge getting seated even though several tables inside and out were open. So, I just sat at the bar. My waitress was very nice. I tried the sausage, jalapeño, honey pizza. It was very good. I really enjoyed their red sauce and crust as well. Overall, a great pizza

First time I’ve been here. Great service, Kelsey never let my water glass go empty. She also didn’t let my beer get low either. Tried the Sausage and Honey Pizza. Nice balance of spice and sweet. Crust is delicious.

I am from Seattle where there are a lot of good restaurants, but this is the best and most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had. Their menu descriptions have a lot of Italians I don’t understand which is good. Food was so good. Pizza was not greasy, thin and delicious. I am planning another trip to Coeur d’Alene just for this restaurant.

Service is fantastic. Very friendly and warm. Food is hit or miss. I’ve been here half a dozen times in the past 3 or 4 years and sometimes it’s great, other time it’s so-so and over-priced. Maybe it depends on who you’re lucky enough to get in the kitchen. The pizza crust is great, but last time I was there I got the Parma pizza and it was piled high with arugula to hide the fact that there was almost no prosciutto on it. $20 for an arugula pizza is not worth it to me. The other time I’ve had the Parma it’s been wonderful. Hit or miss. Consistency would earn 5 stars.

Literally just finished the pizza that other pizzas want to be when they grow up. It was cheaper than a trip to Italy, but I’d bet they don’t have a better pizza. Each component could be tasted in its glorious complexity, together a medley of culinary bliss. The sauce is perfect, tomato unadulterated with overcooking, sodium or sugar. The crust was so complex in flavor and amazing in texture. Cheese fresh, sausage is the Good Kind, tasty and not fatty. Bravissimo! We will be back.

The photo says it all. They are in high demand and it’s well deserved. I’m from L.A. and you can find world-class pizza any day of the week and this pace is crushing it. I got the Margaritta (it’s my go-to) and it was better than some of the “traditional” places I’ve eaten in L.A.. True to the Sicilian style. Do not pass up grabbing a pizza and beers from Vicino.

Cool place, first time here wanted to give it a shot, We were welcomed and we set ourselves which was great! The menu does look nice but sometimes a little confusing, we ordered the Bianca with sausage on top! They don’t have ranch which is very interesting, they gave us some special sauce which was really good! I will definitely come back here this place sounds more like a date vibe. average Pizza cost is around $15-17.
