Good, fast, reasonably priced, homestyle breakfast. I enjoyed the 2 eggs with sausage and hash browns, and added biscuits & gravy as an upgrade to the toast (see photo). It was way more than I could finish, and I didn’t like the biscuits, so I just put the gravy on my hash browns. Next time, I’ll probably stick to toast or even just skip it. The rest of it was very good. My husband enjoyed the Breakfast Skillet with Ham. He had coffee and I had OJ. I think our bill was only about $30 total, including tax and tip. Menu with pricing is posted as well. And the people were nice.

First time I’ve had the opportunity to eat at Val’s, I will definitely be back. The owner, Val works the floor and seems to know everyone that walks in the door. Very much. A family friendly establishment.

I go down to the Big Bass Bash, and we come here every day. The food is faster prepared and absolutely amazing. I try a different meal each time. I haven’t had anything that I wouldn’t order again. If you’re hungry, grab a giant pancake for the table.

We arrived and waited to be seated. After several minutes a woman came from the back and told us, and the 4 groups that came in behind us, to sit wherever we wanted. Every single table was dirty and hadn’t been bussed from people who ate there before. We still sat down. We waited at least 10 minutes. No one came to clean the table, wait on us, etc. We finally got up and left. I honestly don’t think anyone noticed, or cared, for that matter. Very disappointing.

Down home, almost back woods, atmosphere. Val was running around taking care of everyone at once. Not a spring chicken, but she moves around in her place just fine. I’ll be there the same time next year, and I will most certainly eat there again.

Granted it was Father’s Day, but it was just me and my son, and the crowd had died down, so we didn’t have to wait very long to get a table. The waitress came over right away to take our drink order, but we hadn’t decided on food yet. About 30 minutes passed, while we watched two other tables of two being seated and served, and then watched our server deliver food to other customers and clean dirty tables. I finally walked over to her and said, “ma’am, I think you forgot about us, but we’re ready to order.” She replied that she was coming with my sweet tea, but that she had tables in back and had to get this table cleared for big party. About 10 minutes later, she finally made it back to our table (without my sweet tea) and took our order. About 20 minutes later, she brought the order, but not my sweet tea. She then brought the tea and extra napkins that we had requested, and that was the last we saw of her. She never bothered to come back to check on us. The food would have been excellent, except for the fact it was lukewarm at best; my son’s was on the cold side; and by this time the experience had dampened my appetite. I had to go find someone else to ask for more water and to-go boxes. I complained about the entire experience to the cashier (since she was the only one around), and got nothing but a deer in the headlights look, finding out that our server was none other than the owner, Val. Well, Val, I’m here to tell you that I was a waitress for a big part of my life, and your service to us was right up there with the worst I ever remember having. I believe, in all fairness, and especially as the owner, you should have discounted our meal or, at the very minimum, an apology would have gone a long way in my even considering leaving you a tip or trying this place again. But since neither was offered, this lousy review is all you deserve for your lousy service, and this will be the last you’ll ever hear from me. You’re welcome.

This country diner is in my top list! Best tenderloin dinner ever with amazing white sausage gravy. Great prices too! We will be back for sure! We went back for a 2nd visit and had an amazing breakfast. The biscuit and sausage gravy is the best we’ve had! This place is a must when visiting the Lake of the Ozarks!

I’ve had better breakfast food, but I’ve been to a lot of cafes as it is the most common type of restaurant I go to when traveling. It’s definitely above average and should be your choice in the Ozarks for breakfast. About normal prices for a breakfast place.

We were greeted as we walked in the door. They took our drink order right when we sat down. The place was busy but it didn’t feel like it. We were a party of 4 and all ordered breaksfast. They had our food to us is 10 minutes. The food was great and the service was great. One more nice thing about Val’s is they appear to be fully staffed. They had several waitresses running around working together and very efficiently. I highly recommend them for breakfast. (They serve breakfast all day).
