1st impression was fresh upbeat trendy, the food was extremely pleasant welcoming me as I walked through the door unlike the host. With three tables occupied in facility we were told that it was a 10min wait that turned into a 20min wait. The bartender was hospitable and knowledgeable about menu. Getting well done steak that was medium before my appetizer that never came until asked for. Portions were extremely small for the price and quality. I’ve never been charged extra at a Mexican restaurant for more salsa or sour cream that went went my Fajitas. Enter with discretion.

You will be greeted into a wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant is very beautiful on the inside to capture the moment .The food was very good. I ordered the pulled pork chimichanga. Very tasty. You get your money’s worth. Great atmosphere and customer service. I will be returning in the future!

I have lived in the Bham area for years and never been to Uptown Cantina. My daughters took me for brunch/lunch today and it was a great experience. We sat near the bar area and a guy named Justin was our server/bartender. He made great recommendations for food and even better drinks! Lol. He was so nice! The food was really good and came out pretty quickly. Loved the charro beans in the bowl and the Mexican street corn. I ordered a chicken bowl and it was divine! Can’t wait to go back with hubby.

We went in today for lunch. The food was very disappointing. Chips and salsa are not complimentary. They are bottomless, but the salsa isn’t good so it doesn’t matter. We ordered a prickly pear margarita, it was too sweet to drink. We ordered the carne asada fajitas. The food was warm when it came out, the fajita hot plate was not hot or steaming like you’d normally see. The peppers and onions were barely cooked, almost raw. The little cup of butter had formed a film on top of it. The charro beans I ordered on the side had almost no flavor.

The Cubano sandwich I ordered was so delicious and such a unique offering! I also ordered a Fuego Margarita and it was extremely spicy. I’m not a huge fan of spicy so it was a little hot for me but still really delicious! Spicy fanatics will love it. Uptown Cantina is a great spot to go to when you’re in Birmingham and looking for some Tex Mex.
