Wow where to start? I’ll start with the stomachaches and vomitting my family had after eating here! The dinner food seemed fine but the breakfast food was under cooked. I suspect that’s where the stomach aches came from. The server was completely uninterested in us because they would rather chat with the regulars… do they not know that regulars were once 1st time customers. I do feel bad though that the namesake has died. Maybe that’s why the staff does not try any more. To those that post good reviews on the food… are you a regular? I feel that they only treat those who come to hang out every day nicely. Won’t come again. This visit was a total bust. The prices are as high as ihop or Dennys so might as well go there. At least the food won’t make you puke and is cooked properly.

The food and service were great! The pic of the Rueben is missing some fries. I didn’t get to it with the camera before he ate several fries. By the way the fries were great! The fish fry was very good. I was told the Rueben was good. That is high praise coming from him. The mac salad was really good. I generally don’t like restaurant or store bought. I don’t like peppers in the mac salad, but they were big enough to remove.

Seemed like our waitress forgot about us, although thankfully eventually a different waitress noticed and she was able to get us the check so we could walk to the front and pay so we could leave. I wasn’t really impressed.

Ordered triple crown ($9.99 I believe) and asked to substitute corned beef hash for bacon because I don’t eat pork, (since they have no turkey or beef alternative like other restaurants.) Waitress said she would put it in and upcharge for it. I said ok. Instead, I was charged for a full order of pancakes ($7.99) which I had to saw through with my knife, and they didn’t even taste good , and eggs with corned beef hash $9.99. They also charged $1 for a 3rd eggthat I could’ve done without. I never agreed to this. 3 others in my party ordered a side of corned beef hash in addition to their omelets. Waitress said each should be around $3. They charged $7.99 each for HASH ONLY. The steak used in the omelets seems like frozen sandwich steak. My daughter said the spinach used in hers tasted and looked like frozen collard greens. She requested avocado on the side for her omelet. They cooked it into the omelet after being specifically told by the waitress that it was supposed to be on the side, and charged $2 extra for “miscellaneous food.” Mary (who I assume is a lead or manager) showed no care when I brought these things to her attention. All she said was she’ll “have a talk with (the waitress) to tell her not to guess at prices. Mary also stated that she was the one that rang our order into the system this way, not our waitress. I don’t mind spending good money on good food, but this food was not good at all, and the customer service was very lacking. It seems like they only care to please their regulars. I will never frequent this restaurant again, and will tell everyone I know about my experience. I only wish I could give zero stars instead of one.
