My opinion of Umami may be a bit biased because it is the place my fiancée and I had our first date, but the ramen and buns here are pretty good. We have always been very happy with everything we have ordered here, including tonkotsu ramen, a poke bowl, pork belly buns, seaweed salad, matcha creme brulee, lyche martini, the strawberry fields fornever cocktail.

Some of the best food I’ve had in Madison. High quality, clean, very flavorful. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend pork buns and gluten free ramen. The mushroom seaweed broth was absolutely delicious and more flavorful than I expected! There are side sauces you can get to add to the ramen if there is more flavors you want to add like spicy bomb and garlic bomb. Great atmosphere especially with less people during lunch time. There is parking in the back!!!!

️ Dinner at Umami last night. Wonderful! Got the vegan bowl – you will get the rice noodles if you order it so. Heat bomb added, of course – that’s a side of chili sauce. My favorite thing was the vegan dumpling with spicy sauce. We “shared” but next time one order for me. So good!! Bao buns are baked with milk, so can’t be made vegan. No vegan desserts, but Cinn City Smash was across the street (Fridays) with vegan churros!! Delicious meal. Very friendly and really good service, too.

Whenever we order food from Umami, it’s hot, fresh and delicious. This is easily one of my top food places in Madison. Their Pork Buns are absolutely phenomenal, and their tonkotsu ramen is incredible. Portion sizes are great too!

Had a great lunch here with some buddies. I got the Tonkotsu ramen with additional pork belly, a spice bomb on the side, as well as a side of the pork belly pork buns. The ramen broth was flavorful and not overly rich, the pork loin slices in the ramen were tender, and had a great flavor. The pork belly wasn’t as fatty as I usually prefer, but still an excellent addition to the dish. The noodles are made in house according to the menu, and were the perfect vehicle for the delicious broth. I finished the entire bowl, which is not typical for me as I usually get full halfway through a bowl of ramen. I owe this meals total completion to the moderate size of the bowl (my preferred size), but moreso to how delicious I thought it was. I saved no room for dessert, though it was kindly offered.

The food was great! Their Ramen broth….. is so ridiculously fantastic that I would have it once a week if I could. We drive into Madison just for the ramen here (it’s about an hours drive from where we live). I would HIGHLY recommend!
