Twisted Turnip started as a dream many, many years ago. It has evolved many times over the years, but the idea has pretty much stayed the course. Our concept is simple. Fresh homestyle cooking. With a twist.
Thomas Keller of The French Laundry once said, “A recipe has no soul. You, as the cook, must bring soul to the recipe.” So, when asked if I could do anything, the answer was easy. The name was the hardest part. But when we thought about it, it was clear.
TWISTED TURNIP – Turnip keeps us true to our roots. The twist is our way of giving it soul.

Going to Twisted Turnip was like stumbling on a hidden treasure. From the time we walked in, we were greeted with exemplary service. The ambiance is casual and allows you to sit inside or out.

Nice clean family restaurant with a twist. Food was tasty and there was plenty of it. It came out a little lukewarm for mt taste but the flavor was there. Tasty cocktails and a small bar area perfect for hanging with friends. We will definitely be back to try something new next time.

Great new spot in Gluckstadt. There is a lot to take in on the menu, but the food quality is there. Fantastic patio which will hopefully add some tv’s for sports. You can order from your table which is preferable to trying to dissect the menu from the ordering counter. Will return.

Visiting with the family. Very fun and chic yet laid back interior. Enough upscale to be more than typical counter service place, but not fancy.

1st and last time!! I didn’t realize I had an expectation of this place until I entered. You place an order for carry out or dine in at the counter where you enter and you seat yourself whether outside or inside. The prices are a bit much for the quantity and part quality of the food. The presentation of the entrees was great but alot of what we ordered had no flavor, no salt nd just bland(Salmon, shrimp and grits, tenders, mac n cheese, etc). The one thing my table could agree on was the black eye pea grits, these were amazing and unique. The signature bar drinks where not the best but the people where patient, friendly and knowledgeable. It wasn’t crowded and the place was clean and kind of put me in the mind of a fast food set up without the drive thru and quick to cook food. I was disappointed as I entered because I wanted a Zea type restaurante experience. I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Home style cooking. This was our first visit to the Twisted Turnip. Service was great and the food came out very quick. The country fried steak was a little chewy but the flavor was good

I love chicken fried steak so when I saw it on the menu I had to try it, especially with “queso milk gravy.” It was ! Their whole theme is comfort food with a twist and they nailed it. Great twist on a classic. Flavor is fantastic. The green beans and fries I had as sides were also delicious! My only complaint would be that it’s a little pricey at least for a lunch, $20, but in my opinion it’s worth it. Go try it!

1st timer! Very nice new place. Extremely nice and outgoing bar server. However, I tried the bbq brisket nachos. Large serving of chips. Very little brisket meat in the nachos and chips were stale. They will get one more shot from me and I’m done. Too many other great options in this area. $20 appetizer lunch cost and menu was pricey. I could understand these prices for dinner. I’m not paying $20 for below average lunch food very often. As you learn form the new reviews don’t look past the negative ones.
