I admit I’ve been critical of the portion sizes when getting takeout but I have to say the dine-in experience the last couple of times has been outstanding. The food here really is absolutely superior. Love the #52 crispy chicken dish, it is incredibly flavorful, I love the sauce, the chicken really is crispy and delicious (let alone gluten-free). I’m a big fan of the Hoy Joh (dumplings) as well. Those chicken wings, though, they are just as good as the crispy chicken, crispy, juicy, great. Then there’s the ping – both the pork and chicken versions are outstanding. The sauces they serve complement each dish. Even the fried tofu is good because even if the tofu itself is not all that flavorful, the dipping sauce IS.

Delicious food, refreshingly wonderful staff, and there is a real TukTuk inside! How fun is that?!

You know I rarely give anything 5 stars, but after struggling to find a Thai eatery in the greater Tucson area with a winning combination of food, service, and atmosphere (and that serves beer and wine), we were very happy to stumble upon Tuk Tuk in Oro Valley.

We love the food at Tuk Tuk Thai, so I’m especially disappointed that I’ve decided to put it on hold for a year. The last two times we’ve been in, the service has been barely okay. Last night, it was terrible. Here’s briefly what happened:

Took friends for their first time, we’ve been to tuktuk for several times. Worst experience ever! Had to send my dish back 3 x as I asked for red peppers in place of green. Waitress actually argued with me about my order! Also had to ask several times for condiments and napkins. I hope this was a one off time , as we usually have a good meal

The service was pretty awesome. Quick and attentive. The food was really really good as well! I had the Pad Thai Shrimp and it was super flavorful. My brother had the Basil Chicken which was amazing. They only thing I didn’t care for was the iced tea, but I think that is just a personal preference as I’m not a fan of Thai tea in general. Short story, if you want good Thai, go here!

Nov 2022 update….pumpkin chicken curry still excellent. Salad is extremely spicy hot. Could not eat. Green curry with beef was very good. Moscow mule was disappointing. The service was very very very slow. The young ladies were more interested in chatting among themselves or boyfriend and not the tables. I walked my payment to the bar in order to pay as the waitress was sitting at the bar with a boy. 2021 The pumpkin curry with chicken was fantastic. Excellent flavor. The chicken ping was fantastic. The pork ping was dry and fatty. Very much like a thick slice of bacon. The shrimp spring rolls were good. The rice paper was tough and chewy. The Thai tea (unsweetened) was very good. Overall wonderful service. Would recommend!

Good Thai food. Diverse menu. Nice, friendly staff. Cute place. Reasonable prices. It’s only missing their bowl of spice blend on the table.

I’ve ordered several times from Tuk Tuk Thai over the last five months. The first time it was great. It’s gotten progressively worse in quality. The latest time will be my last time ordering from them. I ordered several items for pick up at a slow time on a Friday early evening. Of the four items, three of them were completely different than what I ordered. The fourth was just soggy, greasy, and not worth eating. I ordered tofu, they gave me shrimp. The soup was the wrong soup, again with shrimp instead of vegetables. It had about 1/3 inch of grease floating on the top. Not appetizing. I called wanting a refund, or for them to deliver the right order to me. They couldn’t do that. The only option they could offer was for me to come back to the restaurant and get a refund. They also offered free food. This resolution, while something, didn’t solve my immediate problem because I didn’t have time to drive all the way back to make up for their mistakes. Time is precious, and it’s unfortunate they were not willing to truly make up for their mistake. They messed up, and don’t have a system I place to make things right. I will return at some point just to get my money back. Hopefully they will honor that.
