I was so disappointed with the quality of the food. I had smothered porkchops, yams, and greens. The porkchops were tough and the gravy was terrible, very watery with no seasoning whatsoever and lumpy. Greens weren’t cooked long enough, and the yams tasted like they were canned and boiled in sugar water…cornbread was perfect though and I loved the staff. Perhaps they had an off day, but looking at the previous comments something is just off. However fear not, I think it’s time I open my own place up for people to get the quality food they pay for. Side note: Smothered pork chops, yams and greens should look like the pictures below, not what they sold me.

Yesterday was my first time coming back here in a few years since, I moved out of state. This is one of my favorite places to get the Jumbo Jive Turkey Burger. Ms. Paulette moved to a new location and this is a very nice restaurant. They were out of turkey so, I ordered the Mack Truck burger with mayo, ketchup and mustard with lettuce, tomato, cheese and bacon and a side of fried okra. My sister order off of the lunch selection of foods and we ordered the Fat Catfish plate to share. I got the mixed kool-aid of blue raspberry and fruit punch.

This is soul food in Richardson, TX. I had the ribs and they were sweet & spicy – some of the best sauce I’ve ever had. And they’re not stingy; she loaded my plate with three giant ribs, a very generous scoop of macaroni, and steamed veggies. Although, a bit pricey for lunch at $15.99, the food was excellent. Compliments to the staff!

A few weeks ago I ordered chicken/dressing through Door Dash! It wasn’t on the menu so Paulette(owner)said put in the notes and I will get it! We’ll I didn’t get it, so she said l could come in and get another plate. I told her I had no way so she said when I want it just ask for her she will give it to me and add some things. So today I called my order in because I’m still on Doctor’s orders so I told her lyft will be bringing me and I’m calling in my order or chicken _dressing. At first she said we must have a credit card for call in orders. I explained to her who I was so I told her that’s fine I can pay for my stuff but I also want a vegetable plate. When I go pick it up she have it ready I pay for the vegetable plate plus tip. I ask her was the chicken/dressing in there she said yes. When I get home it’s a serving of dressing where they scraped the pan, it tasted burnt. There was no chicken, the Broccoli/cheese I ordered was so nasty and didn’t look appetizers at all. I was so disappointed the only thing I ate was the black-eyed peas and corn bread. I paid 16.99 for lyft and 12.00 for a vegetable plate that I didn’t eat, to go get dressing that I had been craving then it was nasty but didn’t get what I was promised. I was very disappointed, disgusted that’s the first time my I’ve ever had a bad experience at this place and it will be the last. When the OWNER PAULETTE can’t keep her word that’s a problem for me.

The meals are a bit pricey, so be prepared. They had no issue honoring my Groupon either. The workers are friendly and the portions are VERY filling and hearty. They do not skip out. Thank you for a great meal ladies.

The food was delicious. Ribs, stuffed chicken and meatloaf. Sides were also yummy. The place has a bite to be desirable. What they lack in atmosphere the made up for in food. The food did not look very appealing but once you taste it…. Oh my goodness it’s was fabulous. We will come back.

Get there early for more food choices because they run out quickly of popular items. It was cool that they sold Tropical Punch koolaid. The lemon cake was delicious, so moist. The smothered pork chops were amazing and the food portions were out of this world. The seating is a little dated but overall the restaurant was nice.

EXCELLENT FOOD……my Grandmother always said, she liked 1 kind of food……GOOD FOOD. Very filling, good home cooked food. If you get a chance, definitely go there, its worth it. Nice lady served us, and dont forget the banana pudding and peach cobbler. I’m going back this week….I am ready.

Had the recent experience to visit and eat at the Truckers Cafe. Arrived with high hopes to enjoy good food and first time experience. Unfortunately disappointed. Pictures on the outside of the building and online marketing ads had little resemblance to the reality of the food offerings provided in the line up. Specifically, food selection was fair with a number of selections to choose from in a buffet service line setting. However, the quality and taste of food was lacking with a number of seasoned canned or box prepared item presentations. Portion size was good with food and drink cost a bit on the high side for the food quality and taste. Dine-in experience was decent mostly clean tables adorned with a good selection of condiments, except no napkins. Overall disappointed however in fairness to the establishment arrived around 3:30 PM on Sunday with a close time of 6:00 PM. Lesson learned don’t go near closing time. Some popular items like fried chicken, yams and other selections were sold out. Staff mostly friendly, may visit the establishment again on a different day at an earlier time. Maybe more to follow with hopefully with a different experience to share.
