Stopped here for lunch on our trip to Kauai. My husband and I got the grilled fish tacos. They came with a side of slaw, rice, refried beans and a few tortilla chips. Our meals came to $40. Very pricey, in my opinion. The tacos were good, but very messy! The chips seemed stale to me. The rice was a little undercooked as it was crunchy. The beans were good. Friendly folks.

The fish was perfect, the fries greasy like the temp might have been low. The service was okay, part of that was lunch rush. The metal chairs were not very comfortable so it’s not a sit and enjoy meal slowly place, it’s eat and move on. The value was fair for a tourist spot.

Great spot for lunch while visiting Hanalei Bay. The fish tacos were great, and the burritos were huge! For those complaining about the price go to taco bell. The food here is quite tasty, large portions, and worth every penny! I am a big fan of ahi for the tacos and burritos! We will be back!!

The food was decent. Ordered fish and chips and fish tacos. Each plate was $20 The fish was fried in rather large pieces though. The fries were very good! The fish tacos were good, but not the best I’ve had. The service was great and food came out quick

The beef tacos were great, but the veggie burrito was extremely bland and plain. $17 for rice, beans and cabbage? Not even some extra sauteed veggies? Bit of a rip. Better Mexican restaurants in the area!

We usually come here at least once per trip. The fried fish tacos are good and it’s usually pretty chill out on the deck, watching people drive by. That being said, I feel like their prices went up at some point in the last year or two and they were already pretty steep to begin with. Hence, the single visit per trip. I think it’s a little bit of Hawaii pricing and a little bit of Hanalei Bay pricing. Good stuff, but not good enough for more than once a trip!

We miss the house made hot sauce!!! Love the beans and chips here. Tropical Taco, where did the bottled house made salsa go?? Please bring it back. Cholula is okay, but not the same. Updated: Asked for the salsa as we ordered as mentioned below and it is the same delicious spicy sauce we remembered!! Thank you, Tropical Taco!!! Five star!!! Worth the wait for fresh made food.

Wildly overpriced and mediocre. If you want to wait 30 mins for the worst “Mexican” food for $50 (1 adult and one kid burrito, with $9 tiny chips and salsa, no drinks), this is the place for you. Ingredients are not listed on the menu so make sure you make any dietary restrictions clear before you order but would recommend avoiding.

The worst dining experience we have had in Kauai. When I think of fish tacos I usually expect light fresh taste. Instead you are greeted by a half pound of canned refried beans and 3 day old fried fish. Some food blogger/food writer for the New York Times my wife follows said it was the best fish tacos on the island. Wonder if they gave her a free meal. More like worst fish tacos in the country. We have better places to eat fish tacos in the Midwest. My wife adds: “chips needed salt and tasted like the deep fried fish from old frier oil.” $60 for a travesty of a meal. Never again Tropical Taco. Never again.
