This turned out to be a little Tropical Storm Smoothie Cafe, with plenty of opportunities to learn and improve some things. I am excited for the possibilities here. They haven’t been open very long, and it seems apparent they are still figuring some things out.

First time at a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. This location in Riverton is very convenient and opened about 2 weeks ago. I ordered the Beach Club salad and the Watermelon Mojito smoothie. For a little extra money I got the maple glazed sweet potatoes as a side. The salad was really yummy, with chicken and bacon and little crispy Parmesan cheese bits. The dressing had zing without being too spicy. I just wish there was more of everything in the salad. The container it came in wasn’t full. The Watermelon Mojito smoothie was nice and flavorful, the freshness of the mint was nice. The last 1/3 of the drink was so icy I couldn’t sip it through the straw. Maybe too much ice? I like how you can customize the amount of sugar that’s added. A big deal was made about the turbinado sugar they use. I think sugar is sugar, but maybe it’s better for you? Anyway, I asked for 1/2 the sugar in the smoothie and it was just right for me. Service is friendly; they are all new and learning, so be patient and smile.

Unfortunately, Im disappointed. I wanted to love this place. I would go occasionally since it is on my way to work. I went and got a smoothie today and paid $10.95. I absolutely could not drink the smoothie, it tasted super powdery. I went in and asked if they could please replace it with a different one (it was completely full, i took two sips) and the “best they could do” was offer me 50% off a new drink. I threw the drink away and walked out. An absolute waste of $10. Do not recommend coming here.

Employees are slow and not very knowledgeable, or kind for that matter. Food is hit or miss. You’ll be in the drive through for at lest 15 minutes. The drive to Sandy’s location is worth it.
