Great food, fresh ingredients, simply prepared…any more than that and things get complicated. Tricky Fish, the idea for it anyway, was born along Chinquapin Reef in East Matagorda Bay. And on the water off Port A and near the barrier islands south of Cocodrie, LA. Days spent on the water and evenings spent with good friends, a cold beer and amazing food. Eating out should be a break from the real world. It should be fun, relaxing, a chance to get away from all the things that make our lives… well, complicated. A good meal, spending time with family and friends, trying a local craft beer or glass of wine on the patio – that’s what Tricky Fish is all about.

After lunch crowd, mid week dining experience at the bar… cool calm service. Managers, possibly floor and bar managers, both attentive, using time wisely checking on guests. Ordered Oysters so didn’t quite experience the full kitchen round but they were nice, plump delicious flavor nonetheless. Bar experience was great as well! Loved the Expresso Martini! Will definitely return.

There were so many items on the menu that sounded good it was hard to decide which to choose. Ultimately, I went with the fish and chips and it was a good choice. The cod was tender, not overcooked, and crispy. The fries were seasoned well and the coleslaw was on the sweeter side. My husband ordered the lemon butter chicken and loved it. He said it was seasoned well and was tender. The french toast sundae was perfect with a dollop of ice cream on top. There was no wait on a Sunday evening. We will be back to try other menu items.

Decided to order from Tricky Fish for the first time ever and I loved everything I ordered. I got the Fish & Chips and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. Everything was made to perfection, crispy chicken and fish! The fries were well seasoned and the flavor was delicious! I loved the coleslaw and the bread too! I’m excited to order new items!

This was our second visit here. The food is pretty consistently good, with only a handful of misses. The fried dishes are generally excellent, and I would categorize most of the grilled/seared items as just good. The atmosphere has a very casual sports bar-like feel, but is still family-friendly. Service was friendly, but a little less attentive than it could be. There also seems to be a reluctance from the staff to help support other team members. Overall, a decent place to grab a casual seafood meal.

Excellent place for a nice lunch. Salmon linguine, redfish with spinach and fish tacos were all great. Service is friendly and professional. Looking forward to my next visit.

First time eating here. Had the fried oyster BLT. Fried oysters, bacon jam, and LTOP. Absolutely delicious. And the fried shrimp platter. Shrimp and french fries both were excellent. Came with both cocktail sauce and remoulade sauce. Nice touch.

The fried green tomatoes, grilled shrimp and fried oysters are the best! The gumbo is ok, more of a tomato base. The etoufee needs more work. The bread pudding is the BEST-crispy bread squares and delicious sauce!
