Just came here to get food with my sister and what we received did not give us that happy food feeling at all! We got the bacon Mac and cheese that had big strips of bacon in it which should have been pieces. The mac and cheese was nothin special. We also ordered the pineapple bowl with steak and shrimp and the rice was hard and the steak was thin shreds that had no flavor at all.The steak that was used was for Philly cheesesteaks not chunks. First off, as a cook myself, they totally cheated when it came to this meal. Pineapple bowls should be made with pineapple fried rice not just bland, hard, day old rice. None of the food was fresh and it was obvious. We was looking for some great flavorful comfort food that would give us that happy feeling and all we got was two containers of disappointment. We didn’t even eat 25% of it before deciding we will just get food somewhere else. Lastly, I tried to just call them and tell them how we weren’t satisfied with the quality of food we received and no one answered and on top of that it was a cellphone number not a business number!

Lord I have not been right since I ate here two days ago. Stomach is straight acid and the good looking fine but everyone in my party is sick as hell since eating here I wanted to support a black owned business especially since the vibe reminded me of back home in Atlanta but man I cannot in good conscience eat at this spot again I saw a few other posts about sick folks so I guess it’s a toss up? No more taking chances here again for me – and I was so excited being a pescatarian about all the seafood options they offer!

Trap kitchen is going to get all my coins. This is my cheat day go to the salmon bites are on point and prawns. Sides are taste worthy the Mac was super cheesy and greens were perfect. Thank you for blessing my tummy.

The food was tasty. My drink was strong but matched the price. The location is dark and upstairs, not senior or ADA friendly.

Was ok I believe they warmed some if not all the food in the pineapple bowl up in a microwave. But the fried shrimp & wings were good! Nice big shots of liquor as well! Decent atmosphere playing alot of what seemed to be local rappers on TV screens. Servers were really nice though. A tad bit pricey for what it’s worth, and I’m use to paying top dollar so…..

This is my first time in Oakland and I saw they had a Trap Kitchen and got excited! I’ve been to the one in Portland and love it. I ordered the garlic noodles w/ steak and the shrimp and chicken basket. The portions were great… however, the garlic noodles didn’t taste as buttery as the ones in Portland and the meat I had in Portland seemed to had been sliced thinner, and it wasn’t as saucy! Speaking of saucy, I am a saucy Santana baby! And you can only imagine my dismay when they only gave me packets of ketchup and tarter sauce for my shrimp and chicken!!! I used DoorDash to order but there was no option to add a sauce. Also the chicken was dry and not seasoned well! I’m disappointed

We wanted to support a Black owned business, while in Oakland and this sadly was disappointing. The food tasted reheated, dried, & simply not pleasant. We ordered the catfish. It was cut into small pieces, with more breading than fish. It simply tasted like old grease. The chicken was refried, in old grease & dried out. We also had the seafood garlic noodles. They were ok, but not worth $30. I know overhead costs for small businesses are high, but the quality in the ingredients are severely lacking, esp in the over salted mac & cheese, with the cheeses tasting spoiled. I would not visit this place again. Sorry, I just have to keep in real.

This place came highly recommended. I was overly disappointed. Upon arrival, all of the open tables were sticky and full of food particles. It took super long to get someone to clean the tables. It seemed as if there was one person taking orders and going in the back to get the food. Very unorganized. We were finally able to order after being there for 30 minutes. There was quite a few items on the menu that wasn’t available. The kool-aid was not kool-aid. It was Tampico juice. The food took 53 minutes to come out. The presentation of the food was superb. I give them that. I ordered the catfish basket and it came out looking on point. It was so bland. It literally has seasoning all over it but it was all an illusion. As a matter of fact, all the food was bland. The crab Mac and cheese came with whole crab legs, not crab meat. It was a terrible first impression. I wouldn’t come back.
