Trails End gets busy for lunch and dinner, and they do not take reservations; plan accordingly. Five of us enjoyed Friday lunch and will be back! The servers are great, food is top notch, the owner comes around (and has many patrons’ names down pat), and the views are good too! Just to let you know, their smelt was the best I have found in years!

They have a great small town tavern atmosphere on a decent menu. The staff was friendly and attentive. We make a couple trips annually when we are out on Lake Wausau in cruise up the river. They have a nice outdoor deck for summer dining.

Dont know why any rating would be below a 5. We are from out of town and their fish fry was a recommended. It did not disappoint. Husband had walleye and my poor man’s lobster was the best I have ever had. Staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommend and will return when in the area!

You can arrive via water or roads, sit inside or outside. Live music usually on the weekends. They make a great cocktail and will even put it in your Yeti/RTIC if you bring it, no carry-ins allowed though (but that’s just rude anyway). Food is freshly made and tasty! If you’re a fried mushroom or onion ring fan, you need to try them here!!!!

Went for Friday fish fry. Very busy so we went early and got right in. Food delivered quickly. Beautiful atmosphere next to the river. Interior of restaurant is homey and cozy, very clean and maintained and has a Northwoods feel. Staff is all very friendly and helpful.

I was there Friday night with my family. We were seated in the bar area for drinks – no problem. Later on we asked the manager if we could eat dinner at the high bar table that we were currently sitting at in the bar because my dad, who is in an electric wheelchair, can not fit under the smaller sized tables in the dining room due to his wheelchair. He told us no and that they were not able to drag that table in there. We did not ask that. He then said we were not allowed to eat in the bar area after 3pm – whatever. This was very disappointing, as for one, my dad is not able to get out much because of the wheelchair and for two, this is one of the main reasons he does not leave the house; because most places are not handicap assessable , or furthermore like Trails End, discriminate against people with disabilities. How would you feel if you were told by the owner of a restaurant that you could not eat there because you are in a wheelchair? And after my grandmother told him we were leaving, he stated that he understood why. Ridiculous.

Just doesn’t disappoint! That’s why Friday night fish fry is so darn packed! You may have to wait, but the fish fry is definitely worth it! And the owner has personally checked in with us and asked how our meal was each time we came, which was twice now, and sure to be more in the future! Great place on Friday night!

The food and atmosphere is great (for my taste anyhow). It’s a little bit on the pricey side for drinks. I don’t mind paying more for good food. A daily drink special or food item would be a great idea. If the drink prices were a little lower I would have stayed longer and had another drink. I’d rather stay and have 2 drinks that total $8 than one for $5. Weird but true.
