My family & I dined at this restaurant for first time last week. We recently moved across the street so we had to give it a try. The food was not as good as other local sushi restaurants ; the service was tremendously worse. In all honesty I believe it was the service that made the entire experience, including the food terrible. The soup taste like water, and the sushi had a very odd smell to it. I don’t know about other people however, when I go out to a restaurant, I expect good customer service and a smile on a face. Fail at both of those things and you will get a better view & a never returning customer.

I love this restaurant! Junko is a great hostess/owner , and her positive attitude and kindness sets the mood for a great meal every time. The food also speaks for itself. There are some great food options for those looking to be adventurous. There is also something for kids.

Small menu but very delicious options between tapas and sushi. Fish is always very fresh. Sushi chefs are always very friendly but servers are not always very welcoming. Will still continue to visit here for the food.

Totoya has become my wife and my favorite sushi spot. Try their Gyoza. It’s our favorite appetizer. I like the sushi sampler while my wife likes the rolls. Her favorites are the Fiesta rolls, Marbella, and caterpillar roll. The ambiance is great there but the place is small. Sitting outside is the best is the weather is right which it usually is in San Juan Capistrano. I like this spot even better than Gen Kai in Dana Point which is our friend’s favorite spot. Been to both. This place way better!

Excellent! We have eaten sushi all over California and this place is among the best! It blows away the expensive place by John Wayne Airport (you know the one).

Amazing dinner! Everything was so fresh and delicious. Our small group tried 9-10 dishes, each one better than the last. Atmosphere was wonderful and welcoming. Friendly staff. Many locals and regulars. Looking forward

The food was very good. My wife enjoyed the yellowtail. It is a smaller, more intimate restaurant but it does not feel cramped

5 star flavors! We had great gyoza, sushi, and a roll, all delicious. The staff wasn’t very attentive though. We needed to call their attention to order, to check on a missing item, and to get the bill. But it was a busy night? They need more staff I suppose.

Blown away at the attention they put on the food using ingredients such as real wasabi and fried dried garlic, you don’t see this at most sushi restaurants, everything was fresh! This is easily one of the top 5 sushi restaurants out of the 50+ I’ve been too

Literally the best sushi I’ve ever had. The poke bowl is so fresh and the perfect blend of flavors… If I ever was on the show “The best thing I ever ate” I would talk about the baked scallop roll. The flavors are insanely good and the parmesan on top is just amazing. We HAVE to stop here anytime we are in town. Friendly and fun staff, make this a food destination.
