Wish I could give this place 10 stars! Everything is so great every time I’ve been. The food is phenomenal, the service is outstanding without being overbearing, and the atmosphere is perfect. Literally no complaints. It’s my husbands go to spot for any date night because we know we will leave overly satisfied. Also hosted a bridal shower on their event porch with the help of Kerstin and it was top notch! She was so helpful from the food menu, to the bar, to the flower vases, and of course the service. Couldn’t be happier with any experience I’ve ever had here.

Few meals make it to 10/10 for this hard to wow foodie. Topsoil stands out as one of the most perfectly executed meals in recent memory. Not to be missed when traveling through Greenville. Will become a tradition for us.

My husband and I were gifted a date night here for one Sunday to try the 5 course chef’s experience and added wine pairings. I was hesitant at first because I am a bit picky with wine and some vegetables, however everything I tasted was absolutely out of this world good. The food was extremely fresh, well seasoned, and nice portions. The wine the sommelier picked for each course was extremely well paired, each one not having a super strong “basic dry wine” flavor, but light, fruity, nutty, or a bit sweet, making each course even more enjoyable. Our experience was wonderful not just because of the food, but for the amazing staff as well. Bonus- there is a small “shop local” type corner of the restaurant where you can buy their wine, local products, and more.

Excellent, small town place to have an upscale experience with an easygoing atmosphere. The service was very good. Anna was very attentive without smothering and very friendly. The drink selection was excellent. The food was outstanding. Very succulent and flavorful. We will definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for outstanding food with an excellent atmosphere.

Topsoil is one of our favorite restaurants. They are located right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail in rapidly growing Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Topsoil is aptly named since they have their own farm and are truly farm-to-table. They also source from other local farms. The menu changes often based on the ingredients at hand. The food is fantastic and never disappointing. They moved some time ago to a 3 coarse menu with an appetizer, entrée and a dessert. You can also skip the dessert and get two appetizers which is nice because my wife an I like to share desserts. The bar makes very fun drinks and they have a very nice wine and beer selection. If she is in, let their sommelier pick a wine for you, she has never led us astray. The parking lot is small and odd but the Church just across the trail has plenty of parking.

The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was top notch! We stopped for an early dinner before going to a show in Greenville, so we were the first people in the restaurant for the evening. The host was very pleasant and didn’t mind when we were being wishy-washy about whether to sit inside or out. The screened back porch backs up to a little garden and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and we decided it was too nice an atmosphere out there to sit inside. Plus, there are heaters on the porch to keep you cozy. The ambiance was a lovely mix of rustic and modern, and was not pretentious, but felt like a lot of thought was put into the design. The menu is a prix fixe menu, including your choice of one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and honestly made it very hard to decide because he gave us so many good suggestions. In the end, the three of us all ordered different dishes and decided to share everything. The portions were perfect. Not too large, but large enough that you ended the meal feeling full (but not too full). The swordfish entree was a standout for all of us, and the brussels sprout appetizer. All the desserts were delicious, and they even made us one that wasn’t on the menu since one of our party was allergic to cinnamon. Traveler’s Rest has got a gem of a restaurant in Topsoil, and I’ll definitely dine here again!

Travelers Rest is a special town at the end of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail however the real find is Topsoil , a farm to table restaurant. The time to come is lunch or dinner but their prepared to serve even between those times. We had two satisfying charcuterie boards. The Cheese Board; three unique cheese selections, pickles, red onions, carrots, cucumbers and rustic crunchy bread with grainy mustard. The Trio of vegetable spreads; eggplant zaalouk, cumin-coriander beet hummus, cilantro poblano and rustic crunchy bread was above expectations with full flavored spreads that were savory and sweet. We washed it all down with the perfectly balanced lemonade. Theses travelers were fed and rested. A 15 min drive from Greenville and plenty of parking. Highly recommended.
