Ordered the al pastor tacos,street taco, quesabirria taco, chips & queso. Overall, the tacos were pretty good. Lots of meat and flavorful. Queso was good, but the chips were stale. It’s not a huge deal, so hopefully, next time, that’s not an issue.

First time stopping in. Eddie, Carla, and Elliott were very helpful explaining the menu and making sure we had a good experience. Restaurant was clean and neatly decorated. Never had tried a torta but was pleasantly surprised. Basically a Mexican sandwich for about $12 plus or minus a dollar or two depending on which you choose. Will be back and hope this family-owned restaurant has much success here in Waukee!

Tried 4 types of taco (my wife couldn’t finish one of hers) and they were all quite good. We also tried the street corn side and that was great. This will definitely be on our rotation. If you are wondering what to try, I highly recommend the birria tacos.

I tried this place for the first time with my Mexican husband. I eat authentic Mexican food quite often and have tried many places around the area. The venue is stylish but I’ve had better Mexican food at nearby locations like Maria’s and Monterrey. For the suburbs it’s not too terrible. Yet the tacos are small, over priced and lack flavor. The flat pieces of taco meat taste like grease and belong in a meal like gyros. The salsa doesn’t go well with chips, it tastes better on tacos or as a topping. I did enjoy the venue and the environment was nice. The flavored water was probably the best part of the meal.

We have eaten at Tacos n Tortas every weekend since they’ve opened! Always fresh ingredients and everything has great flavor. Be sure to try the guac and the beans for sure. Awesome customer service that can’t be beat!

Excited to try some authentic tacos in Waukee instead of driving all the way to the east side of Des Moines for our favorite taco spot. My husband and I stopped in for some tacos for dinner. We ordered the mango and guava frescas which were excellent. The tacos we ordered were quesabirria, carne asada, al pastor, lengua, and carnitas. Our favorite tacos out of the order were carne asada, quesabirria, and carnitas. Al pastor and lengua could be improved. Lengua tacos were long pieces instead chopped up into cubes. The salsa options were limited. We had the salsa roja since they didn’t have they salsa verde. It wasn’t spicy at all, could be spicier. Ordered the chips, salsa, and queso. The salsa was on the tangier side and not the typical restaurant salsa you would usually get at a Mexican restaurant.

As someone who grew up surrounded by Mexican food, I will say this isn’t authentic. That said, i waited maybe 5 minutes and had my meal. I’d definitely recommend this as a great option. Sure you can go to monterrey Express but after my last experience there I have searched for other options.
