Rise Of Rome
Tikay is probably one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. While on the outside it seems relatively unassuming due to its small size, you’re in for a treat at this hidden gem. It may be a bit of a struggle to find parking, but there are usually a few adjacent lots you can park in. The restaurant is owned by a very nice Haitian couple who run the whole operation. The wife was out sick when I came to eat, but her husband admirably took over everything and did an amazing job in terms of service as well as cooking great food that he had learned from her. Due to this, as well as the sheer quantity of our order, we spent quite a bit of time here as our meals were cooked one-by-one, but it was absolutely worth it due to the quality of the food, handmade back in the kitchen. While a bit more expensive than what most are used to, I see the prices as absolutely justified given the quality and quantity served. I myself got the full griot, which was just about some of the most tender pork I’ve had, served with spicy slaw (I think this was pikliz but I’m not quite sure), a nice spinach salad, some great beans & rice, and a bunch of steaming hot fried plantains. I also tried some conch fritters, pork plantain cups, and macaroni au gratin. Definitely recommend all of them! The inside of the restaurant is very clean and there is a nice atmosphere from the paintings and music. Another big plus that we learned later on is that you can call ahead of time with larger groups as not to cause such a backlog to cook, so won’t be much of a wait if you’re one of the people who are going to complain about that, unnecessary as that is. Again, while it may take a while to get cooked, the food is absolutely worth it and is definitely made with soul.

We were on a road trip and found this place out of luck… we were not disappointed! The mango drink was perfection: not too sweet or sour, smooth and delicious! We also tried the tropical blend drink (no photo because we drank it in a second!) also very delicious!

This is a true hidden gem. Tikay is as about authentic as you can get! The owners are two hard working individuals and are very kind and friendly. The food was amazing. We did wait on our food for a while but we were expecting that and it was 100% worth the wait. We ordered the seafood boil(available on Fridays), jerk chicken wings, turkey, plantains, Au gratin Mac, and mushroom rice. Fantastic. We got ours to go but they have very limited seating there. This is the kind of food that can’t be replicated or found anywhere else. Please make sure to give them a try!

Maybe the most authentic Caribbean food I have ever had outside of the Caribbean! Friendly owners who you could really tell loved what they were doing. Tiny little space, so don’t go in there with a big group, carry out might be your best bet. Would be even more amazing if they were able to build and outdoor patio for the nice days outside. This is not fast food nor a quick lunch break spot. If you come by plan to spend 1h+, but know that the wait is so worth it.

Absolutely delicious. My family arrived 30 minutes before they closed. We order and they informed us it would about 20-30 minutes because they make their food fresh…let me tell you it was worth the wait! While we waited I observed the place…it was clean and a nice atmosphere. We ordered some of their fruit drinks mango, cantaloupe, and one they call the tropical blast. We tried them all and couldn’t make up our mind which we liked the best. I haven’t drank something that tasted that good and fresh in so long. He made it right there fresh and with whole fruits…yummy. we had seconds on the drinks by the way. When we got our food it was time for them to close for the evening but they insisted we sit and enjoy and we did indeed. The food was so flavorful and authentic…you can tell they enjoy cooking amazing food. It was hot. We didn’t leave until almost 9 an hour after they closed…they didn’t rush us out. The hospitality left us feeling right at home. If you are looking for a little restaurant with food and drinks that are so flavorful and people that are so nice you got to try this place. We are a couple hours away from Evansville but we can’t wait to go back and when we do this place is where we will eat! To all the staff at Tikay Caribbean Taste…thank you!!! I went to the Caribbean without having to really go.

Amazing food and people!!! You can taste the love. Mac and cheese, plantains, and mushroom rice were out of this world. Can’t wait to go back for more! My family loved the jerk wings. Caribbean soul food you’ve gotta check out.

Delicious. I didn’t know this place existed until a week ago. I truly hope they get everything they deserve. This place has a wonderful staff and great food. The wait was a little while. But. The end product is amazing. The flavor of this food is something I have never experienced. Thank you.

Went out in search of something different. Ended up finding a little place in Henderson called Tikay Caribbean Taste. Ended up talking with the gentleman and he says we two to much let me get some stuff for you to try. Ended up trying the macaroni and the mushroom rice which we ordered and the beans and rice which was good but I really liked the mushrooms rice. We tried the jerk chicken wings, double crispy plantains and he whipped up some Fishballs and grilled shrimp.
