If you’re looking for good xiaolong bao and other Taiwanese style cuisine, this us one decent restaurant to go to. Expect long a long wait, especially during lunch and dinner times (between an hour to about a crazy 2.5 hours). Weekends are especially busy. Do not expect any type of good service as everything here is electronic, from the menu to ordering…everything is done through your phone or iPad if you happen to bring one with you on your visit. The Air-conditioning is poor…maybe because they leave the doors open and that brings flies in the restaurant as well. Price is almost like Din Tai Fung, but the ambiance is like a fast food chain without good service. They’re very thrifty as well in giving out napkins and parking can be a challenge.

This place is so good I went twice last week! The dumplings are handmade in house and they have an awesome menu. They also have awesome boba tea drinks which makes it even better. Prepare to wait in line, but if you say you’re ok with sitting at the bar it’s way quicker.

Thumbling is a MUST go. Doors open at 10:30 AM and there’s always a line so get their early. The noodles are savory and the shrimp cooked to perfection. All of the dumplings are tasty and succulent. My mouth is watering as I try to describe the delicious food.

I recommend coming here before it opens if you go during the main brunch/lunch hours. It gets really packed and you have to wait in line. If you’re going to wait in line make sure to check in before you line up so that you’re not wasting your time. The best items here that I got were the Xiao long bao and dumplings. I recommend that with their chili oil. Their char siu bao was also very solid. I don’t recommend their pork chop rice. If you like din Tai Fung I think this is very comparable.

I will more than likely never follow an IG recommendation again… Pulled up, and the line was way too long for this 98° heat. I should have turned and left when the guy in front of me said it was “whatever,” and he only comes because his wife and daughter like it. For the amount of $$ we spent, I would never. But you live and you learn. The prices on their online menu were cheaper than the actual spot. The line was outrageous, and the wait was 1.5 hours. We decided to order to go. I ordered the beef noodles, beef rolls (the amount of cilantro in the beef roll was egregious, I felt personally attacked), pan-fried pork buns, and the Shanghai spicy pork wonton but received a spicy wonton soup instead. I couldn’t even go back to get what I actually ordered because THE LINE – it was inside and out at this point. The food was good, but not great. It was honestly lacking the flavor and seasoning I was hoping it would have had. I was so optimistic from that IG post recommending this place, but I was sadly disappointed. I wish I could say it was amazing. If I had to pick something, I would order the beef noodles again. Just bring my own seasoning to spice it up.

Thumbling has some of the best taiwanese food in the area. I used to go to Din Tai Fung for my dumpling fix but this spot is better and cheaper than DTF. The beef noodle soup was perfectly balanced and came with a bit of a spicy kick that was delicious.

Personally, I don’t think it’s anything exceptional. You can get those same food from any Chinese places. What they did well is make the place trendy. That’s why people flock. It’s new; the ambience is nice. Systematic in placing the order.

Scan and order, the menu is way too small. Since we did the order ourselves and hardly any real services and when we saw that 18% suggested tip we were laughing…. 1) starting salary has increased in CA, 2) you had your customers order food by themselves, 3) if you want customers to pay high tips, YOU HAVE TO EARN IT, PERIOD! you shouldn’t be putting the suggested tip % on your bill.

I used to go to Din Tai Fung for soup dumplings and my favorite hot and sour soup until I discovered Tumbling in West Covina, California.Tried it once and I am hooked, and have since become a regular diner with friends and family. Great service with staff who are eager and ready to help! Expect a longer wait time if you get there around lunch or dinner time. I highly recommend this place to those who appreciate savory Chinese food made with quality ingredients, and dining in a warm and welcoming environment with great service.
