10 Years ago, my first Yakitori experience in Japan made me fell in love with it. In 2017, I met my now good friend-chef Atsushi Kono in New York City. Master Kono was is the creator of the very first Michelin starred yakitori restaurant in the United States.

Saw this place on TikTok and stopped by for early dinner. The place is quite small – about 30 capacity. Got there 10 minutes before open to avoid the line and glad we did. The crowd starting coming in around 5:30-6pm. Small plates and mostly grilled dishes – we like everything ordered especially the fries, whole , and. Scallops. Will definitely be back in the near future. It’s too bad they didn’t have steam rice as all the dishes will pair nicely with it ☺️. This place exceed my expectations for sure. Give it a try!

1. Food wise is pretty good. I noticed the sauce they used to marinate the meat for the grill was tasty. But it lacks of the authentic Japanese grill flavor (not strong enough charcoal flavor). The kalbi was delicious but the meat quality is so so. Not tender, bit chewy. Teba was impressive because it’s quite moist and juicy.

Love the rustic atmosphere, the aroma of coal and shoyu/mirin/sake when you first open and enter the door, takes me back in Japan all over again, the staff are so helpful and polite. They take their time to go over with the list and orders. Service was great as well as the food. We ordered almost half of what was on their menu. We also shared a huge pot of sukiyaki (shared by 3). I suggest you come in early before they open or be prepared to be on the waiting list. Either way, I personally think it’s worth the wait. I will be looking forward to coming back here again.

We tried this place out since we wanted to do Japanese style skewers. There are some mixed reviews about this place but for me it was a good place to dine in. The servers were very attentive and helped explain the menu. They also had other specials like grilled octopus and Hokkaido scallops which we tried. We ordered multiple skewers and overall they all tasted great. Most of the items are two skewers so the price was reasonable.

Am a fan of yakitori and always was a customer of sumiya. Wanted to try this place as i came across during pandemic and was closed at that time.

This restaurant was really crowded in a rather quiet plaza in Fremont. Service was pretty quick and efficient, and overall the cosy setting made this a good evening choice one weekend.

The skewers were expertly grilled and packed with flavor. The chicken heart, breast, and neck were particularly delicious and had a great texture. I truly believe chicken heart is under appreciated! The short rib skewers were tender and juicy, and the beef tongue was a unique and tasty addition to the menu. But the real standout for me was the wagyu skewer – it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The wagyu was in the special menu! The atmosphere was also great, with a lively and authentic feel. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for delicious, authentic Japanese grilled food.

left completely disappointed. The waiter took my order, but somehow something I didn’t order was served. When I politely pointed this out, instead of an apology or a solution, I was met with a shocking level of rudeness. The cook chimed in with a similarly arrogant tone. If this is the level of customer service they offer, then I wonder how they’re still in business. And food was average at best, but certainly not justifying the prices they are charging. Definitely won’t be returning and would advise anyone considering a visit to rethink.

I really like this place. Service is top notch and the yakitori is great. Location is small and can get crowded so come early or make reservations if you in a bigger group. There is also bar seating if it’s one or two. Wide selection of sake also!!!

Didn’t have a good experience there. After we entered and sat down, started to order. We were told all the sukiyaki were sold out. It was only 5pm Saturday. Shouldn’t you inform the customer at first. Then we said we’d leave. They told us one flavor was available. We decided to give a try. The broth was very plain except some salt. We kept asking staff was it already seasoned , they seems didn’t get our question. There weren’t communicate with us efficiently at all. The taste of skewer were good, though it was a little pricy.
