Arrive early to walk around the grounds before dinner. Very limited menu choices all absolutely superb. One flaw was the 2 excellent desserts were both chocolate. Was no option other than chocolate.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Wooden Crate while staying at Lumeria for a week long yoga retreat. Three wonderful meals each day were provided by the talented Preston and Shane in the kitchen and Carla in the dining room. Not only was each meal delicious, their attention to every detail was noticed. From early morning coffee at 6 am to dessert after dinner each evening, we were properly nourished for 4 hours of yoga daily.

Dinner was a major disappointment. Although every course had a multitude of flavor, sugar was the prominent flavor in each of the three dishes served in their prix fix menu. The location being part of an educational center, ambience in the dining area, and service were excellent.

This place has amazing fresh food and I’ve been a couple times and just called head to request vegan options and their vegan entrees have blown me away! Their chefs have made homemade macadamia nut cheese, delectable chocolate mousse desserts, and so many other amazing dishes.

They are open Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays, it’s $55 per person Friday & Saturday; & Thursday is Local’s Night (Kama’aina $45/person) Making reservations was super simple, and I even had to change the reservations which was also a breeze by calling them. All the food is locally sourced, which I love. The mood was welcoming and cozy. This property is so stunningly beautiful. I had an incredible time with my boyfriend for his birthday.

I honestly wanted to love it more than I did. I absolutely love the Lumeria property. It is so peaceful and magical. The starter salad was tasty and felt very fresh. The ahi rice main dish was quite bad honestly. The ahi was flavorless and overcooked. The rice had too much sauce and the beets were not cooked enough. The chocolate avocado mousse for dessert was tasty, but for $55 per person to just eat a salad and dessert really missed the bar. It’s too bad.

The first time we went service was totally first class. They waitress was super attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and they we were good to go. This time the waitress we had was not very attentive at all. She was robotic with no real energy or personality injected into the service she offered. Not at all the 1st class experience that we had the first time. The food was Luke warm, and the original turkey dish, the Turkey was dry and the mashed potatoes, along with the vegetables was also Luke warm. They remade our plates, but the veggies were still not warm. Not at all the experience we had from before. It will be a long while before we attempt to come back.

A great place to eat if you’re into locally sourced food and willing to eat what’s on the menu. It’s a flat rate price of $40 per person and you get to choose 1 of 2 main dishes while the other dishes are all standard for the night. It’s a great eclectic and tasty meal at a reasonable price for the food and experience. The ambiance and the grounds are also very calming and relaxed. If you’re a local, there are heavily discounted kamaaina nights during certain week nights.

The restaurant at the Lumeria surpassed every expectation. We stayed a week at this yoga/meditation retreat as the home base for a cycling tour and ate three nights here. Fresh, fresh salads, a creative entree of fresh fish or chicken, delicious sauces, and a tasty dessert all in a relaxed atmosphere, totally gourmet, and very reasonably priced. Wines and beer available. Great service.
