This place is on my commute to take my kiddo to a sitter so I decided to stop in since they were open. When I got there a little before 9am I was the only guest and the employee came out quickly to greet me. I was surprised at how few breakfast options there were in the bakery case. I got the cinnamon rolls simply because it was that or cookies. Yes, they have a menu, but I needed something to go.

I went to Water Bar in Geneva this week. While deciding what treat to choose, I enlisted help from the employee who was eager to help. She told me the cookies were fresh that day, while the other items were made a couple days prior. There was one tiny cake that was 12 bucks. Too pricey for me-esp if it was a couple days old. Isn’t that what “day old” discounts are for? I choose a cookie for 5 bucks. It was a decent size and the container was nice. The cookie was bland and I don’t know what the dollop of icing is, but it had very little taste. The biggest problem I had was that I had just come from the gym and wanted to know how many calories each item had. The employee felt bad but said she had no idea. Crumbl Cookies (chain) often have 600+ calories for one cookie so I would never go there. Health conscious people usually pay attention to nutritional details. I did not eat more than half the cookie because I had no clue what I was eating and it wasn’t delicious. I don’t spend an hour at the gym to eat bland or blindly. The floor also needs a proper cleaning. I could visibly see pieces of cookies, fries and shoe footprints on floor-and it hadn’t rained for days. That floor should be washed daily and swept multiple times. I was the only person in there, so it would be easy to keep the floor far cleaner.

The Water Bar is a unique place for people with food allergies and sensitivities. They’ve put a lot of time and effort into creating something special for the community. The desserts are amazing! Whether you’re eating in or getting take out this place worth a visit!

So many things to love about this place! Every meal I’ve had (and I visit frequently) is delicious. My favorites are the orange poke bowl, mexi-cali shrimp tacos, cheesecake fries and the citrus tuna salad. My husband is a big fan of the coffee selection while my kids love the ice cream.

The previous menu items where amazing, I had given a 5 star review. I had come 3 times after my initial review and every time 5 stars! Today I tried the new menu and I dropped my review to a 2. They completely changed it! I understand that they wanted to add more items, but why remove what you had that was great especially when the new items don’t come close to flavor.

My wife and I love the baked goods from here. Met the owner as well and had a great conversation. I’d recommend stopping in and trying the food especially if you have food sensitivities!

Waterbar was so much better earlier this year, but things have gone down hill. They don’t answer the phone, no online ordering, the menu has changed, waffle tacos and fruit tacos are gone. My friend ordered three different tacos (carry out) and was given only one type instead. I got the miso salad which was a pound of leaves, plain cubed tofu and shredded carrot, three ingredients for $12. Pineapple burger had one single tidbit of pineapple. We’ve been here many times this year and this was the worst. I won’t go back and no longer recommend.

I am so confused! First time there tonight for dinner after finding them online. They had a great online reservation system. I saw the “after dark” menu (actual menu not online) and the promise of an “experience.” So, with a dinner reservation, a fancy “after dark” menu and it being vegan, I was both intrigued and a little excited. We get there and it is basically a coffee shop/ice cream shop with about 7 tables. “Reservations for what?” I ask myself. Then we get handed menus and were told to sit anywhere. No fancy “experience” like the website says and no specific “after dark” menu. More confusion. We order a burger (new to menu), a couple of tacos, regular fries and sweet potato fries. What we get: the burger was one slider-sized beyond burger for $15.95 and it was lukewarm at best. Both kind of fries were obviously bagged frozen fries, heated up (ish). The Nashville Tofu tacos were fine, but also lukewarm. All in, two tacos, a slider, not a burger, and two kinds of fries were $40.00. The whole experience was just confusing. When I make dinner reservations for an “after dark” special menu, I expect a real restaurant with quality, made-fresh food. Maybe we try again with lower expectations- some of their bowls, breakfast or desserts. Not sure.

So happy to find a vegan gluten free place in the suburbs. Unfortunately it was subpar. With only 3 customers in this restaurant, it still took 45 minutes to get a burger and fries. The burger arrived cold, with the wrong fries. After asking for the correct fries, they left me the burger and took another 20 minutes to get the new fries. The baked goods I tried were very good and the soft serve Oatly ice cream delicious.

Went in and grabbed some delicious pastries today. The girls behind the counter were super sweet and helpful as my family has a lot of allergies to content with. I think I found our new favorite bakery.
