Located in an elegantly restored downtown location, the Upper Crust has a sophisticated modern vibe, with a little retro-industrial thrown in for good measure. Playful pops of color abound with many of the building’s original architectural elements reused in new and inventive ways. An open-air kitchen and three wood-fired ovens invite guests to watch the chefs prepare the seasonal menu with panache. The front area of the restaurant has garage doors that open to York Street in the warmer months, is the main dining area, the back area behind the kitchen and the lovingly restored bar, is the place to relax with casual seating, TV, and vintage Skee-Ball and basketball games.

First time here. Right on 30 in Gettysburg. No wait at 5:30pm. Nice atmosphere. Three wood fire ovens are definitely neat. Lots of fresh air and light coming from the front bay doors being open. Sarah was our server tonight. Very helpful and friendly. Appetizers came out quick and were hot. Nice drink menu of wine, beer, and cocktails. Got a beer and a strawberry mimosa. Wife was surprised the drink had strawberry purée in it. The owner of this restaurant owns the borough bbq restaurant next door. Meaning that you can order from either restaurant right where your sitting. I chose the brisket sandwich. ( No sides are included). My wife got the pulled pork, with baked beans which are now her new favorite! After eating we looked around at some games and such at the back of the restaurant. You can walk up the couple stairs to next door to look at that restaurant and bar area. There is plenty of seating inside and out at both places. Very nice stop if your walking and looking for something to eat! They have take out also.

I wasn’t as thrilled as I thought I’d be. Food was good. Mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce and corn fritters with spicy honey were delicious. The cheese pizza was simple and easy, the mushroom pizza was bland, the brisket pizza with onions should have been called the onion pizza with a sampling of brisket, and finally the cheesesteak sandwich – the meat was a bit too cooked and the cheese sauce was little. The drinks were weak, had to order extra shots. We looked forward to playing games in the back but they had absolutely no air on, the heat was unbearable.

My pizza was good, but I don’t understand the high price. My son’s pizza was very black on the bottom. The booth backs are flimsy. 4 college kids say behind us and kept pushing the seat back into us. I watched the kid that delivers the pizza almost run into two customers, one of which was seated and stationary. My guess is because his hair was over his eyes like the sheepdog in the Bugs Bunny cartoons. My pizza was good, but I probably won’t go back.

You actually charge to use a credit card!!! Thats unheard of! The pizza is good, albiet, a bit charred on the bottom. I’ve had several wood fired pizzas, and these were too black. The atmosphere is by far the best part of the entire place !! There is free skee ball, basketball, shuffleboard and pool tables. However, I am giving it 3 stars as I feel they are taking advantage of the tourists in Gettysburg! As a family of 4, we ordered a pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage pizza (large/one size fits all), and were still hungry. We then had to order another one! For reference, we are not big eaters, and normally, with a large pizza from most places, we would have leftovers. We had 1 Bluemoon beer and 3 Iced teas. With a tip, it was almost $90!!! The womans bathroom was also not clean. I hope the owner reads these reviews as the place could be wonderful, but the portions are way too small, and the prices are way too high, not to mention untold surcharges. Just because you’re in a tourist area does not mean you should take advantage of it!!!
