Service and atmosphere was a knock out of the park! The outdoor patio is really great. Also some nice live music playing later in the evening. While I Enjoyed my New York Sirloin Steak, it was a bit strange with the sauce provided. I’d expect a hotel with a reputation for the culinary arts to let the food speak for itself. Most of the time with red meat, less is more. Loved the use of parsnip . Can’t speak highly enough of the waiting staff. They were so helpful.

One of two restaurants located on the grounds of the Essex Resort and Spa, the Tavern has a nice casual dining feel. We got into the resort around 7pm, and had been driving a good portion of the day, so didn’t want to have to drive somewhere to get food.

Great restaurant at the Inn at Essex. The decor and atmosphere is calming and the service is usually pretty good. Good variety of options for dinner or lunch. The salads, burgers are good. The buffalo chicken wings are slightly breaded and perfectly fried & tender. The roasted brussel sprouts are an awesome appetizer. The Pountine is a little different since potatoes wedge style fries, but lots of cheese curds and brown gravy poured over the top.

Good little place to have breakfast. I brought a friend visiting from NY to eat there and had to wait 15 minutes for a table. When we got in, the Tavern had only 3 other tables occupied and didn’t seem too busy. I understand the lack of help at restaurants now but felt like we had someone that didn’t seem too inviting or cheerful when we went there for breakfast. The food was good but I had eaten there before and the whole experience was a lot better last time.

The good: beer flights were fine. Pickle that came with the burger was tasty.

Incredibly limited and overpriced food menu ($18 for a small skillet of Mac and cheese with no sides). Good beer selection with locals on tap. Food for 7 people took almost an hour to arrive (with no bread or other appetizer offered in consideration for the wait). The only really good thing was they had a musician playing who took requests. I hadn’t been here in a long time, and it will definitely be a long time before I go back.

Disappointed. Staff up front need lessons in politeness and etiquette. Service was slow — 10 min to get our drinks. Table was sticky when we sat down, terrible impression. Waitress pleasant but seemed overwhelmed. Food was good if somewhat pricey for what u get.
