No MSG No Garlic Foodie
I was initially attracted to their website hero photo because of the type of vegetables and various cuts of meat shown. We were able to get a table at the last minute. I wasn’t going to order a bowl of anything. But when I saw people eating noodles from a big bowl, I changed my mind. I was impressed with the bowl of meat & noodles I received. I wasn’t quite expecting the taste and presentation of pork shoulders, pulled pork with BBQ taste wasn’t something I expected in a bowl of noodles that looks very much like fusion ramen. After the first taste, I wish I had ordered the braised beef instead. The bone broth, however, was amazing. I also loved just how raw and fresh the vegetables were. My sugar snap peas were definitely locally grown, hardly cooked and very sweet. The choice of the other vegetables were excellent as well, unusual. I couldn’t recognize what the egg noodles were trying to be, it didn’t have enough chew as Japanese ramen or udon, neither did it resemble other Chinese or Italian egg noodles I am familiar with. There is a a soft boiled egg which I deliberately left in the hot broth for as long as I can and only attacked it once I ate everything else in the bowl. To my surprise, the egg was still cold, soft boiled, but not salty or soy infused. This experience left me wanting to visit a ramen restaurant ASAP. The highlight for me is taking the remaining bone broth home and tasting it again the next evening. My partner ordered the Medium Salad with smoked Kirsop Farm Chicken. I can tell he didn’t enjoy it, especially when he declared that he does not want to repeat that experience. Ruby Rink is closed on Mondays, so, I am prevented from trying other interesting items such as sandwiches and country pork pate. The servers and host were all very friendly and provided excellent service. I agree with their philosophy and if I lived on Vashon, this would be my regular stop.

The best ham and cheese I’ve had in a long time! The ham by itself was tender and flavorful, everything added together made it even better.

I love the Ruby Brink. I tend to come here after working weekends on Vashon for the local ferments, incredible selections of cheese and meat, and seasonally picked dishes. I stay for the atmosphere and cocktails! I love that RB offers locally sourced products and builds their daily menu around what’s effervescent and in season. They use a lot of fermented foods as well so they can preserve fresh produce year-round. I recommend it to any visitor to Vashon (as I do as well the winery I work at, Palouse Winery, about a 10 min drive down the road from RB). Dogs are welcome on the patio!

I enjoyed the atmosphere of a bar table near the back. The cocktails are thoughtfully assembled, and cleverly named. I find them a bit on the dry side for my taste, but that is entirely subjective. I ordered the salad with chicken. It’s a bit pricey, but well composed, using more than the generic spring blend, and supporting local farmers. For my taste, it lacked acid, and I ordered salt and pepper to bend it to my palate. The chicken add on was generous and pleasantly smokey. While I have never had it, myself, I’m told by many that their, occasional, burger is very good. That’s for next time, and there will be a next time. I would be remiss no mentioning the attentive and friendly service from the staff. Top notch customer service!

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Consistently quality food with fresh ingredients and their breads are to die for. Their menu changes daily so it is like going to a new place each time with their classics always listed. Their cocktails are also perfection. Their desserts, absolutely must get their sourdough brownie with whipped cream and Finns cookie.

I wish I could give ten stars. This was one of the most well executed and interesting lunches I’ve had in a long time. All dishes were creative and the variety on the menu was really appealing (many things had to be saved for another time). The beef soup and pork soup were great. The salad was summer in your mouth. And the plate of rillete, cheese etc was amazing. Oh and the popcorn was great. Service and ambiance were excellent. Well worth a trip from Seattle alone. Or weekend on Vashon.

We chose the Ruby Brink, (love the name btw) based on reviews and my daughter’s need for clean food, due to her auto-immune diet challenges. She came in here with such confidence…and enthusiasm, after reading those reviews and also checking out their current menu online.

A delightful spot! They’re pate, tomato soup and beef broth were delicious. The thing that made it stand out for me was the raspberry mustard that they made themselves and served with the pate. What a treat! I ate ever bite on their excellent sour dough!

We’ve been to the Brink a handful of times now and with their ever changing seasonal menu, it surely never gets boring. The drinks are artistically crafted, flavorful and pack a punch. The food is up there with some of the best I’ve had around the Seattle area. Highly suggest the 24 hour broth. As a foodie from Chicago…10/10! Ruby brink impressed with class, flavor combos and layers and dedicated service.
